About White Horse
The White Horse is a pub in London on Peckham Rye, at 20-22, and it has served SE15 since the early 1800s. Parched Pubs took over the running of it in 2014. Rice Paddy, a Thai kitchen, now works inside the pub, where it replaced an earlier Caribbean and West Indian menu. Its dishes come with sticky rice, and a roast is on offer with chicken, lamb or salmon. Guests order from the table by scanning a code on a sticker, so food and drinks go in without a trip to the bar. Live music and jazz fill some nights.

Customer Review Summary
The Thai Sunday roast draws the most attention, and opinions split. One diner calls it excellent, with hearty, tasty food and generous portions, while another found it basically meat on a plate with Thai herbs that did not stand out. Grilled meats are called decent, and an earlier reviewer praised chicken, lamb and salmon from a west Indian menu. The recurring complaint is rice. One diner could not eat it because it was too hard, another found the sticky rice dry, and a rice pudding brûlée arrived with undercooked rice and a brûlée that was too thick. A jerk chicken roast dinner was described as salty with mushy vegetables, and chips were called a small portion with mayo extra. Service divides too, from friendly, upbeat staff to a waitress who set down plates without cutlery. Reviewers consistently praise the atmosphere, the pool table, the front beer garden, live jazz and a solid beer range. One reviewer who found the roast just okay would still return for the pub itself.

“Really disappointed with the service and food here. A group of 10 of us ordered food and rather than trying to rectify the situation the staff accused us of stealing each other's food as they couldn't account for a missing bowl of chips. The chips themselves were ridiculously overpriced for such a small portion and mayo was an extra 50p. The sticky rice was dry, assuming it was left out too long so I couldn't finish it. Again the staff member scoffed when I mentioned how horrible it was as though rice couldn't be that bad. Such a shame, used to be a great pub.”

“nice place, lots of room inside with a pool table, and a great beer garden out the front. Used to do Carribbean food but last time I went was Thai, really good.”

“Great neighbourhood pub with a built-in Thai kitchen, central location in Peckham although on a quiet-ish road.”

“If you want a pub with atmosphere, good music and good food, you have landed at the right place. Modest sized outside seating at the front, but masses of space inside. Service was excellent and easy. Thai food on a Sunday, as you will discover is no hype, it is excellent. Good hearty food during the week and is a pub affair, though they have Vegan offering. Live Jazz bands also on some nights and Sunday Tight but accessible for wheelchairs.”

“We found out about the Thai roast and really wanted to go and try it out. It did not disappoint. Plenty of seating around the place and nice atmosphere. Staff members were great and very engaging. Felt the food quality and portion size were great and really tasty. We definitely had a lovely experience while we were there”

“The White Horse has been serving the good people of SE15 since the early 1800’s, with Parched Pubs taking the reigns in 2014. Combining old school values with contemporary consideration, we hope to give the neighbourhood a much loved local that’s great fun the whole week through with wonderful Thai food from Rice Paddy.”
