Customer Review Summary
Wedding receptions draw most reviewers, who describe friendly, helpful staff through the planning and on the day, and food that guests kept praising afterward. The one-level pub, its outside space and natural light come up repeatedly, and one reviewer held a baby shower in the private room upstairs. Beyond weddings, diners name the steak and chips, the pies, including a broccoli, pear and feta one, and a Sunday roast. Complaints are specific. One diner found the sticky toffee pudding not sticky, the apple crumble grainy and the custard thin and lumpy. Another reported an overcooked prawn starter, a child's fish and chips that smelled past its best, and a pale, tough steak. A guest who was told by phone that the chips came from a separate fryer learned on arrival that it was shared, and the kitchen swapped the chips for potatoes with the crab.

“We called ahead specifically to check the gluten-free options and were told that the chips were gluten free and cooked in a separate fryer. When we arrived, we were told the fryer is actually shared. They swapped the chips for potatoes with the crab, which was appreciated, but it was very frustrating, especially after checking beforehand. It could have been great, but it was a shame that the information we were given over the phone wasn’t accurate, especially when it comes to dietary requirements.”

“Came here for the Sunday roast. The food was excellent and the service was friendly and attentive. The broccoli/pear/feta pie was especially good!”

“Overcooked prawn starter, kids fish and chips smelt awful (fish past its best), 45 minute between stater and mains and £40 steak as white as a sheet of paper, you’d break your jaw trying to consume. Despite mostly full plates no ‘how was the food?’. 2 adults, 2 kids, 3 glasses of wine, £170. Never again.”

“We held a baby shower at the private space upstairs and it was wonderful. A naturally beautiful room with character & lots of light, a private bar too. Chris was serving us and on the bar and he could not have been more helpful or charming. All round a great day!! Thanks to all 🙂”

“We recently celebrated our wedding at The Lordship, and we couldn’t have picked a better spot. The staff were brilliant—attentive, organised, and somehow managed to keep everything running smoothly without breaking a sweat. The food was top-notch—beautifully cooked, packed with flavour, and had guests debating whether it was acceptable to ask for seconds at a wedding. The wine selection was equally impressive, ensuring no glass stayed empty for too long. Beyond that, the venue had just the right mix of charm and character, creating the perfect setting for the day. Everything felt effortless, and we couldn’t have been happier. If you’re looking for a place to celebrate in style, The Lordship is a fab choice.”
