Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return most for the beer, singling out a well-kept Duffield Amber and praising the selection as excellent, with the bartender and regulars adding to the draw. Close behind is the setting: a pub tucked down an alley off Hatton Garden that several say feels untouched by time, with small tables outside, a lounge at the back, more seating upstairs and a snug one family enjoyed. A pork pie and the pies on the menu earn mentions, and one reviewer later added that the food is excellent too, though another notes the menu is limited to small snacks and pies. Several say it was packed inside and out, and a few compare it to the Leaky Cauldron. The one recurring complaint is the toilet, with a reviewer noting there is only one and it could have been kept cleaner. Diners also describe a bartender who chatted with a whole family and a regular who offered to explain how the table got out of the snug.

“We didn’t eat here, we only had drinks. But it was super charming and had all the pub vibes you would hope for in London. The history is fun!”

“Ye Olde Mitre is one of those rare places in London that feels completely untouched by time. Tucked away and almost hidden, it has a presence that is both intimate and unmistakably historic. The setting, the proportions, and the details all create a sense of authenticity that is difficult to replicate. What makes it truly special is the atmosphere — not something manufactured, but something that has formed naturally over centuries. It feels genuine, grounded, and quietly confident. I genuinely adore this place. It’s not just a pub, but a small piece of London’s living history.”

“An absolute gem hidden away in an alley off Hatton Garden. Loved coming here when Scottie was the landlord. Still good today ordered an excellent Duffield Amber for £6.75 or 288 THB. The beers here are always perfectly kept, and given the setting was packed inside and out on a Wednesday evening.”

“What an amazing thing it is. Apart from from the quite frankly ridiculous history of the place, and the fact that it's squozen in between modernish buildings to become the pub that time forgot, the real beauty is the people. I had the pleasure of meeting the charming Mr O'Connell behind the bar and a couple of irregulars, thanks Dave for the incredible beer knowledge, and to Real Ale Al, who was an absolute joy to chat with. If you ever have the pleasure of his company, ask him how they got the table out of the snug. It's one of the smallest, most interesting pubs I've ever visited, and the beer was spot on, and so was the pork pie. I will be back.”
