The Clapham Tap
Quick info
About The Clapham Tap
On a backstreet off Clapham High Street, near Clapham North and Clapham Common, The Clapham Tap operates as a pub, bar and restaurant laid out in a U shape around a central servery, with a conservatory and a rear beer garden that stays mostly covered and fitted with heaters for winter use. The bar pours keg and cask ales, ciders and non-alcoholic beer, and staff bring orders to the table rather than leaving it counter service only. Darts, table tennis and board games are set out around the room for anyone who wants to play between rounds. Customers can bring in outside food or order through the pub's Yard Sale Pizza delivery partnership, with orders arriving directly at the table. The beer garden's outdoor seating gives a spot for eating outside, and dogs are welcome throughout the building. It opens daily and runs on a walk-in basis rather than bookings.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return above all for the beer selection, praising a craft and independent tap list that includes Kirin Lager, a pint of Jimbo from the cask, and Ghost Ship as a non-alcoholic option. Close behind is the rear garden, described as spacious, covered and heated, where darts, table tennis and board games keep groups settled for hours, one saying they stayed eight. Several also single out the friendly bar staff, the good music and the conservatory layout. Service draws the main complaint. Three reviewers describe staff as rude or abrupt: one says a woman they took to be the manager was rude to guests and to her own team at the end of a birthday night, and another found some bar staff unfriendly and the cask ale poor. One adds that the enclosed heated outdoor area traps cigarette smoke. Yard Sale Pizza comes up repeatedly, delivered straight to the pub and to the table, with reviewers noting outside food is allowed, and one calling it the best pizza they'd had in ages.

“🚇 Clapham North 🍺 £7.60 Kirin Lager The Clapham Tap is located on a quiet backstreet just off Clapham High Street in southwest London. The nearest Tube stations are Clapham North and Clapham Common. The pub dates back to 1846 and, for most of its history, was known as The Manor Arms. In recent years, it operated as a Craft Beer Co establishment before reopening as The Clapham Tap in 2017. This is a traditionally decorated, one-bar pub laid out in a “U” shape around a centrally located servery. At the rear is a conservatory leading to a good-sized beer garden, while there is also a pleasant outdoor space at the front. The decor consists of polished wooden floors, 1930s fitted wood wall panels, a mix of seating, including Chesterfields, and vintage signs adorning the walls. My favourite area was the snug on the right, which had a proper red pub carpet. The conservatory also featured a couple of Chesterfields and a dartboard in the corner. The beer selection was excellent, offering a range of premium and independent beers, as well as four cask ales. I opted for a Kirin Lager, which is a rare find on tap. My pint was excellent, although it was at the premium end of the price range. Food-wise, the pub serves pizza from Yard Sale Pizza, which delivers directly to the pub. I arrived just before 4pm on a sweltering Saturday afternoon in June. The pub was fairly quiet inside but absolutely packed in the beer garden, with a young crowd and an upbeat atmosphere. The service was top-drawer. The team on duty were welcoming and very friendly, and clearly enjoyed working at the pub. Visiting The Clapham Tap was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The welcome was friendly, the tap list was excellent, the atmosphere was easy-going, and the hospitality was on point. A great spot for a pint and well worth checking out. 📅 13th June 2026”
