About The Brookmill
The Brookmill is a pub and live music venue on Cranbrook Rd in St John's, London, with gigs and album release nights and rooms in a hotel above the pub for overnight stays. The food menu includes fish and chips, burgers and a mega roast, and the kitchen lists vegan options and says it caters for dietary requirements. The taps carry local brews and craft beers, and Guinness is also on offer. Screens show football, and England games go on the main outside TV. The pub hosts weddings and big events for groups. A DLR station and trains to Central London are nearby.

Customer Review Summary
Friendly staff are the most frequent praise, with several reviewers calling them welcoming, helpful and good with families, and one wedding party crediting the team with putting up decorations on the day. Food draws steady approval too: great fish and chips, generous Sunday lunch portions eaten in the garden with family and a dog, and chicken wings one diner loved. Reviewers also mention the Guinness, a live album release gig, screens for football, and rooms described as clean and comfortable near trains to Central London. The caveats are service lapses and dry meat. One reviewer describes staff chatting while customers waited, food arriving without cutlery, napkins or sauces, an email enquiry left unanswered for days, and a steak not cooked as requested. Another found the mega roast so so, with thin, overcooked beef, and a burger was called a bit dry. One misses a proper ale. Still, one solo visitor, feeling relaxed, stayed on for dinner and several drinks.

“Lovely relaxed atmosphere feeling in the pub. Usually when I go to a pub, I eat my meal quickly or have one drink and leave whtin about half hour regardless if I'm with someone, talking to someone or alone. Today when I went here though, I wasn't with anyone or talking to any customers, just alone drinking and eating but I felt so relaxed I bought 5 drinks (only one alcoholic), had dinner in here and stayed for exactly 4 hours.”

“Massive Thank you to Robbie and the team. We had our wedding here on a hot May Saturday. The team were amazing! Food was brilliant. Staff were so lovely and just made sure the day was perfect. We had family staying in the hotel and they raved about the place. Planning before the wedding was stress free and straight forward. The staff even put up some decorations for us the day of the wedding. Nothing was too much hassle. Amazing venue, amazing staff, brilliant for big events!”

“Really nice pub with a good garden and good value food if you have an offer. The food is ok, burger a bit dry but decent place to watch football with screens.”

“The customer service at this establishment really needs a significant overhaul. We have visited several times, and the same issues are always present. The communication is poor from the start, as I previously sent an email regarding a reservation enquiry and received no response for five days. When we arrived at the bar, it was incredibly quiet, yet the staff spent 30 seconds chatting amongst themselves, completely ignoring us until they finally noticed we were waiting. Unfortunately, the service did not improve once we were seated. Our food was served without any cutlery or napkins, forcing us to go and get them ourselves. We also ordered chips, but no sauces were provided, nor were we asked if we wanted any, so I had to retrieve those myself as well. This seems to be a trend, as previously when asking for a steak to be cooked a certain way, it never arrives as requested. To add to the disappointment, the main outside TV was not working, and we were told it is only used for England games. Most concerning of all was a major health and safety hazard. It was a 30-degree day, yet the mayonnaise was left sitting out on a table in the blazing sun the entire day for anyone to access. This is incredibly dangerous, and I will be reporting it to the relevant authorities, as you simply cannot risk harming customers with poorly stored food. It is a real shame because this is the only nice-looking place in the local area. However, the customer service here is a minus ten. For now, we will have to look elsewhere, but we truly hope it improves one day so we can continue to visit and recommend it to others.”

We have a fabulous selection of classic pub dishes, amazing Sunday roasts, and a wide selection of vegan options. We will gladly cater for all dietary requirements. On the pumps, you will find local brews and ice cold craft beers. A warm welcome and fabulous service awaits!”
