About The Birds Nest
The Birds Nest is a pub on Deptford Church St in London, with a 1981 double-decker bus parked outside that works as an on-board kitchen serving Colombian food. Inside, the pub serves a Sunday roast with pork belly or chicken, plus roast potatoes, greens, carrots, homemade gravy and Yorkshire pudding. Cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets come as sides. A recent refurbishment brought a bigger bar and a dark green interior. Pool tables fill the back area, and the venue hosts live music, including the Nestival music festival, on a small stage. An art gallery and a hostel share the building, and a private dining room gives groups their own space. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the Sunday roast, singling out a tender pork belly with homemade gravy and a chicken roast. Two complain of a rude, long-haired barman, one after being refused a City Stack offer. Others call the fish and chips oily, and one regular calls the pub sterile under its new owner. One vegan says staff went to the shops to make a Pina Colada.

“Very rude barman with the long hair - disappointed with how nasty he was when we were looking forward to a pint in such a great looking pub”

“Tried to use the City Stack offer, was told by the man at the bar (long hair, red and white football top) that Bird’s Nest ‘didn’t do this.’ When I asked enquired further, he then said, ‘he doesn’t really work here.’ I told him the pub is listed on the City Stack website, at which point he became mocking and rude. Lovely looking pub, shame about the staff.”

“Just been for lunch at The Birds Nest in Deptford. We were treated like VIPs and I would definitely recommend a visit there. These guys are lovely, they even went to the shops to be able to make me a Pina Colada, not normally on their menu. That is customer service for you. Above and beyond and I will definitely be returning. The food was delicious too, even for a vegan such as me 😋🥰😍🍹”

“Staff where friendly Poor food. I had battered fish and chips mushy Peas. Fish was soaked in oil. Mushy peas where dry gardens peas smashed with no seasoning . Tarta tarta was basic mayo. No salt or vinger brought to the table or sauce. Not worth £14.95 I was charged I will think twice in future. Drains are a bit pongy”

“Unbelievable roast, honestly the best for miles and miles around. Don't let the history of this place fool you, had the chicken roast and it was incredible. They put a lot of thought into the dish as whole, will be back for sure.”
