About Rose & Crown
Rose & Crown is a pub in Blackfriars, London, built around one of the biggest beer gardens in south east London. A large screen in the garden shows live sport, so a match can be watched with a drink in hand. Indoors, the bar has its own seating, and the taps carry Shepherd Neame beers and Guinness. Beer tasters are available for anyone deciding what to order. The kitchen serves a menu of classic and modern pub food, with fish and chips among the dishes. The pub is at 47 Colombo St, on a side street.

Customer Review Summary
Service is the recurring complaint. Several describe a bartender or bar staff member who rolled her eyes, answered a greeting with a flat "yes", or seemed unfriendly, and one calls the staff moody. Food and drink draw individual complaints: a pint of Guinness served warmer than the room with an oversized head, and fish and chips with rock hard batter about a centimetre thick, cooked in old oil. One group with a confirmed booking for eight said their table was given away, and part of their order arrived after two hours, with no apology.

“The staff kills the atmosphere, just rude. We go after work because is convenient but the red hair girl at the bar always ruins the night with her awful service.”

“Nestled off the main thoroughfare, good beer, attentive staff and great food come together to deliver the quintessential British Pub(lic) House experience. There is indoor and outdoor seating, a great range of Shepherd Neame beers and Darya made sure I enjoyed tasters of the other beers on offer. Be part of a family and enjoy time here unlike big corpo pub chains that treat you like an item on the conveyer belt. 5* from me!”

“Really enjoyed my visit to Ross & Crown. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and a good selection of food and drinks. The service was attentive without being over the top, and it’s a lovely place to relax and catch up with friends. Would definitely come back!”

“It's a great pub with so much potential, the outdoor area is great and it's got a great quirky character inside, but the girl working there has the worst customer service of anywhere I've ever been. Literally walked up to the bar with a smile and got greeted with an eye roll, I said "hey, how are you" to which she responded "yes" It's actually comical how bad she is, liek something from a Ricky Gervais sketch. Puts me off going TBH”

“I never leave reviews but this was genuinely shocking. Had a confirmed booking for 8 people, they had got the booking for the wrong day and then proceeded to blame us for that and took our table away from us. On us showing the confirmation of the booking on the correct day they barely apologised and did not give us our table back. We ordered food - waited 1.5 hours before asking at the bar for an update as we knew it was busy. The man behind the bar had a go telling us to be patient. After 2 hours the waitress eventually bought round 1/3 of our food. Before we could say anything she had a massive go about how she has been “calling our number for 3 hours walking straight past us”. We had been stood quietly at the back waiting for it, at no point did she come anywhere near us. We didn’t get the rest of our food, or an apology for any of this. We understand it was busy but the way they handled it and spoke to us, a non-confrontational group who never complained to them was so rude and unnecessary. Absolutely would not go back and would not recommend to anyone.”

It sits a short walk from South Bank, St Paul's and London Bridge, on ground once known as Paris Gardens and linked to the area's old theatre history.
