Customer Review Summary
Guinness is what reviewers single out most, called really solid, very fine and poured by staff who know how to pour a pint. This traditional single-room pub on a quiet back street near St Paul's draws an after-work crowd, with a horseshoe bar inside and plenty of room for outdoor drinkers in the narrow alleys. Close behind are the welcoming, efficient staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Reviewers also mention the decor, the artwork and history on the walls, the brightly painted windows and screens showing the Six Nations. One reviewer praises the upstairs dining room for a tasty, generous Sunday lunch. Opinions on the drinks selection split. Some call it vast or wide, while others found only one real ale, no cask ale and fewer than ten whiskies. One reviewer also had numerous pints of Guinness served in non-Guinness glasses. One visitor says the bartender remembered them after a single visit, and they returned twice more.

“Decent pub tucked away in the back streets of the City. Popped in for a pint during a bit of a crawl. Loved the decor, really solid Guinness on tap, and a number of screens to watch the Six Nations.”

“Beautiful listed building , a very fine Guinness down a quiet side street. What's not to like?. Subtly Irish , my favourite”

“Decent pub with staff who know how to pour a pint. It’s usually busy with the after-work crowd, tucked away in the backstreets between Blackfriars and St. Paul’s. A nice break from the more touristy spots nearby whilst still having a good ambiance. There’s a wide range of beers on tap and some cool artwork and history on the walls. Definitely worth popping in for a pint or two if you’re in the area. Guinness at time of review was £6.75.”

“Lovely little pub, tucked away near St Pauls. Very busy outside on a sunny weekday evening in July, but plenty of room inside. Not too loud, nice atmosphere, clean toilets, staff were cool and Guinness was good. Nothing bad to say. If I was to raise any constructive criticism at all I would just say I had numerous pints of Guinness served in a variety of non Guinness glasses, which doesn't bother me but I know it's important to some folks.”
