Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often praise the tapas, with the garlic and chilli prawns, octopus, croquettes, chorizo and lamb skewers named by one diner, and the cauliflower fritters and spanikopita singled out by a vegetarian who felt spoilt for choice. Close behind is the staff, described as friendly, charming and attentive, with several saying they were made to feel right at home. The Victorian interior, airy light-wood furniture, beer selection with cask ales and keg beers, dog-friendly feel and outdoor seating also earn mentions, and a few call the value for money great for central London. The caveats are specific. One lunch visitor rated the meal poorly, citing hard bread, a frittata cold in places, dry mushrooms and prawn juices that tasted close to turning, and felt the staff member seemed uninterested. Another reported slow drinks and a forgotten item. In both cases the bread or a dish was taken off the bill, and one diner says a not-quite-right dish was removed without being asked.

“Two of us went for lunch. It looked like we were the first customers of the day. Ordered, bread, garlic and chilli prawns, frittata and sautéd mushrooms. The bread was hard, the frittata was like warm (cold in places), the mushrooms were dry and the juice the prawns were served in tasted as if it was about to turn. The prawns tasted fine but the sauce wasn’t great. We mentioned the bread, frittata and prawns to the member of staff who didn’t really seem interested. They did take the bread off the bill. We wouldn’t go back again.”

“First visit. Food looked good but only had the in-house peanuts which were good. All food is prepared on premise which is good sign. Great place outside to watch the world go by.”

“What a place! The food was amazing, as well as the staff, who was absolutely charming and very friendly. The music was really good too :) We recommend this place without any doubt!”

“Popped in here after the Sherlock Holmes stage show. Service was brilliant, bar staff were excellent. Very Very friendly and we were made to feel right at home even though we had never been here before. Please Please keep up the good work as we will be back. Avtar”

“Very nice last night of our London holiday, six vegetarian tapas (plus olives) was a good fit for two adults and two children (hade our children been more fond of vegetarian tapas maybe we would have ordered one or two more though) having eaten way to much deep-fried stuff in the last couple of days. Also quite (very?) reasonably priced, we had a glass of ale and wine with our food, and it landed at about 70 £. A company of all adults would have landed a bit higher.”
