Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the friendly, welcoming staff and the family-pub feel. Parents praise the crayons and colouring pads and the kids menu, and others mention a quiz night, pool table, darts and an outdoor play area. Dogs are welcome too. One group that pre-ordered for twelve reports no mistakes with any dish, and one diner enjoyed battered fish, chips and mushy peas. Food is where opinions split. Some call it hit or miss, with a chilli beef described as tasteless. Several describe very long waits, forgotten or wrong orders, onions on a meal after staff had been told none, and drinks requested four times. Steaks arrived undercooked in one account and well done in another, sausages came burnt, and a mixed grill was lukewarm. One reviewer found drink prices steep, citing a small bottle of Budweiser. One diner describes fish and chips served nearly black, and the only response was a weak apology and a promise to tell the kitchen.

“I came to the pub on Thursday for my grandsons birthday and the manager Richard went above and beyond to make me and my family feel welcome in the pub we pre ordered food as there was 12 of us and there were no mistakes with any of the food and the rest of the staff were warm and welcoming I couldn't recommend this place enough I have told my friends and they said they will be visiting soon”

“The food was abysmal, took over an hour to come out and everyone's food came out inconsistently, my food was forgotten so while everyone else was almost finished and my husband waited for mine so his went stone cold, I was still waiting. When I did eventually get it after being told they'd forgotten to put it on my steak was undercooked to how I ordered it, my sausages were burnt within an inch of their life not even my dog would take it, my chicken was dryer than a slice of turkey and my gammon was so over cooked it didn't even resemble gammon. We had to send my husbands mixed grill back the first time because they'd served it wrong despite dietary requirements being listed on the order and the way they handled the whole night made it all that worse. Never again.”

“I've been to this pub a good few times now. The place is good for families especially with little children as they have crayons and colouring pads to hand. The kids menu is very good value for money with quite a few choices on there. The service can be on the slower side but we go when it's quiet. They do offer blue light card on food which is a little bonus. Staff are friendly and accommodating.”

“All the staff are so helpful, friendly and hard working. We always feel so very welcome and the staff go out of their way to help us and get us what we need. Such a wonderful team of lovely people…they deserve to be acknowledged and appreciated so thank you all :-).”

“Food is great and the service is fine but the drinks prices need addressing! I paid £5.90 for a bottle of Budweiser 300ml that is clean off you can’t justify that price! Ten minutes down the road same thing £2.90 other than that it’s a decent pub/restaurant”
