Quick info
About Fork & Field
Fork & Field is a gastropub at 36 Bank St in Mid Calder, on the outskirts of Livingston, with the walks of Almondell Country Park on its doorstep. Dogs are welcome, so walkers can bring them along. A suntrap area gives guests a sunny spot to settle in. The kitchen cooks home-style food and pays attention to where its ingredients come from. Starters, mains and desserts are offered as a three-course menu, and sticky toffee pudding appears among the desserts. Sunday roast is served too. On the drinks side, the bar keeps Inches cider on tap and offers a cocktail list.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the friendly, welcoming staff, with the Sunday roast described as incredible and huge in portion, and the posh steak pie called 10 out of 10. Close behind are the salmon, the sea bass and the prawns with garlic bread, plus Inches cider on tap and a good cocktail list. One diner with coeliac disease felt reassured by how the servers handled it. Others like the modern industrial interior, the indoor and outdoor seating, and the dog friendly welcome.

“Do not be put off by the external appearance, once inside the place has a modern industrial design which is pleasing to the eye. The food and service are both of a very good standard and the menu represents excellent value for money.”

“First time at Fork and Field for Number of years. First time since food creations have taken over this venue . Starters, chicken liver pate Was really lovely, but the tiny slices of bread Served with it were awful felt stale And tasteless. Prawns were very nice and served with lovely garlic bread. Mains Sea Bass was lovely and cooked perfectly However, my husband steak was cold and quite dry We sent this back. I was finished my main meal for ages before his newly cooked steak came but this time it was juicy and delicious pity it wasn’t like this the first time. Desserts sticky toffee pudding was very delicious, but the crème brûlée had no caramelised topping only a few biscuit crumbs. They did remove the crème brullee from the bill and a round of drinks! Overall, quite disappointing as pretty expensive don’t think we’ll be back.”

“Had a lovely visit here today. We only had starters due to the heat, plus kitchen had limited meals so didnt get to try their Macaroni. Brilliant indoor & outdoor seating/suntrap. Bonus being 🐾🐾 friendly & Mid Calder/Almondell country park/walks on the door step. Revisit - defo”

“We were really looking forward to trying this restaurant, but it was a bad experience. The staff is super nice and helpful, and that was what partially saved the night. The starters were really good, but then the mains were bad. We had Mac and Cheese, and Gnocchi, and both of the past plates were filled in grease, and the taste wasn't there at all, we left more than half the portion, when when we said to the waiter that it was too greasy, they just nodded and toke it back, no follow up at all. The desert was a bit disappointing too, ordered a Sticky Toffee Pudding, that had hardly any Toffee sauce in it, and came with strawberry ice cream that tasted like soap. The decor is really nice, but wont be coming back and don't recommend.”

“Had such and amazing time here. Staff were so welcoming and friendly, we didn’t have to wait long at all for drinks or our food and it tasted amazing. We had starters too but forgot to take a picture. We came because we had a cabin nearby for the weekend but have already decided we are happy to drive from our home to here. Absolutely fantastic and the dining area is beautiful too!”
