Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the food, with the pork tenderloin singled out as a dish everyone enjoyed on two visits, followed closely by the Biscoff Toffee Waffle and nachos that one reviewer calls like no other. Others describe lunches as fresh and filling, and one notes the kitchen is great with allergies. Staff are described as friendly even when busy and accommodating with children. The complaints are specific. One reviewer found the lunch food poor, comparing the soup to packet mix, the beef burger to a thin frozen-style patty, and the chicken burger to plain goujons in a brioche bun. Another feels quality has slipped since a possible change of owner, with smaller portions and overpriced dishes, noting a chicken mango and cheese toasted sandwich was tastier than the beef burger. Two reviewers mention an unpleasant smell near their table, one describing urine in the back corner. One birthday party was brought a slice of cake with a candle and a song.

“Had a birthday dinner here and the staff were so accommodating, even went out their way to bring a slice of cake with a candle and sing happy birthday. Paul was really friendly and polite, even giving suggestions for cakes. Definitely recommend this place for food, drinks even a catch up with friends.”

“We’re regular customers at PB and can’t recommend it enough. The staff are always welcoming, accommodating (especially with kids), and genuinely lovely. The food is fantastic, and after years of eating here, we’ve never had a bad meal ☺️”

“I visited after seeing the breakfast menu online, which was the main reason we chose to come. When we arrived, only the lunch menu was available, which was disappointing as there was very little I liked the sound of. I settled on the chicken burger and fries, while my partner ordered the beef and black pudding burger with soup. Unfortunately, the food was extremely poor. The soup tasted like a cheap packet soup mix, the beef burger was a thin frozen-style burger, and the chicken burger was simply chicken goujons in a brioche bun. Nothing tasted fresh and the whole meal felt like frozen convenience food rather than food made with the local produce suggested online. The area where we were seated also had an unpleasant stale smell, which made the experience even less enjoyable. The staff were perfectly pleasant and were simply doing their jobs, so this is not a criticism of them. The issue was entirely the quality of the food and the value for money. For the prices charged, it felt like a joke. My partner very rarely has anything negative to say about food, especially a burger, but even he said he could not give it more than one star. The reviews had made us want to visit, but the reality was hugely disappointing. We will not be back.”

“Food was excellent and staff were lovely. Location is great and right next to the canal with outdoor seating. Loses one star because there was a strong smell of urine next to the table we were sat at (right up the back right corner under the mural of the trees/greenery inside)”
