About Champany Inn

Champany Inn is a steak restaurant with rooms and a wine shop in Linlithgow, on Champany, run by the same family. The kitchen centres on steaks, with a ribeye steak on the menu, and the wine list covers a wide range of bottles. A bar sits alongside the restaurant. Guests who stay overnight get breakfast, and the rooms come with generously sized baths. The shop gives diners and visitors a way to choose from the wine side of the business. Reviewers return to Champany Inn for the steak, with the ribeye called the best around and others describing steaks cooked perfectly in large portions. The wine list and the old-school rooms with generous baths and a great breakfast also draw praise. One reviewer found staff watching mobile phones and had to try several times to get attention, and another wished for more seafood.

“I last visited the Champany 40 years ago as a treat from my parents for doing well in school exams. On a recent trip back to Scotland I took the opportunity to stay there with my wife and introduce her to one of my late father’s favourite restaurants. I’m delighted to report that it’s just as good and still run by the same family. It’s refreshing to see in a homogenised world somewhere consistently doing the right thing without the need to follow fashion. Food was of course excellent and the staff were delightful. I hope to visit again a lot sooner than 40 years!”

“Great food - four steaks perfectly cooked and really good service. Would love to see more seafood on their menu, but they are the best at what they do so can't argue.”

“Old school place in the best of sense. Rooms, Bathrooms, Restaurant are certainly from a past era, but meticulously kept and well maintained with great service. Cosy rooms with generous sized Baths. Great Breakfast as well. Recommend a stay.”

“I always look forward to dining at the Champany Inn. Unfortunately the level of service is not what it has always been, five star. Things have changed with staff sitting down watching their mobile phones rather than attending to customers. Unusually for The Champagney Inn, we had to try on a number of occasions during our dinner and afterwards to get any attention from the staff. On a more positive note, the food and it's setting was excellent as usual.”

“Been a few times now and the food is absolutely outstanding. The ribeye steak is without doubt the best around and the staff are courteous and professional. Menus are good with plenty of choice. The wine menu is something else with something for everyone , with bottles from £40 up to over £9k ! It is definitely a place to go for a special occasion or simply to treat yourself and significant other.”
