About So Salsa Castle Street
So Salsa Castle Street is a family-run tapas restaurant at 2 Castle St in Liverpool. The menu pairs Spanish classics with globally inspired dishes, so croquettes sit alongside duck spring rolls and Bang Bang Cauliflower. Meat, fish and vegetarian plates are all made for sharing, and they reach the table as the kitchen finishes them rather than all at once. Sangria comes by the jug, with peach and red versions on offer for the table. The interior has traditional decor.

Customer Review Summary
Croquettes come up most often, with reviewers naming them alongside patatas bravas, duck spring rolls, scallops with a black pudding crumb, and the crispy chicken as a favourite. Close behind is the sangria, served in a big jug, with peach and red versions both praised, along with beers such as Damm Complot and Madri. Reviewers describe friendly staff, dishes arriving as they are cooked, and outdoor tables on Castle Street with a buzzy feel in good weather. One group says a booking error was handled well by the manager and staff, who found them a table outside. Several mention returning for a second visit. The main dissent is a two-star review calling the food poor and overpriced: the Bang Bang Cauliflower was described as unseasoned roasted florets in mayonnaise and sriracha, and the salt and pepper veg pancakes as too salty, with the pancakes stuck together in a mush, though that reviewer still found the drinks good and staff friendly. One diner who returned on a second night of a Liverpool trip called the repeat visit equally excellent.

“Ate here 2 or our 3 nights visiting Liverpool, had to go back as our first night was amazing. The return visit was equally excellent! Very much recommend.”

“We were a group of seven friends and there had been an error with our booking. The manager and staff dealt with the situation brilliantly. You can tell good customer service from when things go a bit wrong and the customer service here was ten out of ten. Once the staff had sorted us a great table outside we soon had it full of food from all the menu sections and cleared our plates. Really good olives and pardon peppers, croquettes, paella, ribs, salads, calamari, prawns. I'm surprised we could walk afterwards ! The weather was great too and there was a really buzzy atmosphere on Castle Street. Great place to go with friends to share food and their fab peach sangria 😍😍”

“Im embarrassed to say this was our first visit to So Salsa, it won't be the last. Absolutely superb, service, food, beer. It was really busy and the service team were still very polite and professional. We had duck spring rolls, a mix of croquettes and the star of the show, the sublime scallops with a black pudding crumb, washed down with a glorious Damm Complot. That good I had to thank the chefs. Perfect venue for my wife's birthday. We will be back and thanks so much.”

“So Salsa has a great vibe if you’re looking for Spanish tapas with a cheerful atmosphere. Would highly recommend the Sangria as you get a nice big jug and it tastes amazing. The food has all the classics and great for sharing. The interior decor is very traditional which gives an authentic feel. In the summer, the outdoor seating is amazing on Castle St for a summer evening out.”

“Fabulous experience here. Service staff were great, and was lovely to see some natural banter between the manager and the person serving us. Made us feel like it was a good company to work for. The food was really high quality. 2nd time I've been and will be back. Went on to City Wine Bar on Old Hall St.”
