About Bistro Franc
Bistro Franc is a modern French restaurant in Liverpool, at 1 Hanover St. The menu changes often with the seasons, and the head chef builds it around in-season produce from local suppliers. Dishes can be tailored for vegetarian, vegan and other dietary needs, including food intolerances, so a table with mixed requirements can order from the same menu. The kitchen cooks classic French dishes with a contemporary twist, among them French onion soup, beef bourguignon and lamb shank. Vegetable, meat and fish dishes all feature in the rotation. A Prix Fixe menu is also offered.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the warm, welcoming service, with several describing staff who made birthday and holiday meals feel special, including a free pudding for a birthday roast. The beef bourguignon comes up repeatedly, praised as rich and flavourful, alongside the French onion soup, lamb shank, sea bass and duck. One diner had steak with mushrooms, tomato and a homemade creamy pepper sauce, and another had chicken supreme with fondant potatoes. The dark chocolate brownie is named as a dessert highlight, and the fixed menu is described as great value. Atmosphere is called charming, relaxed and full of character. The main caveat comes from one birthday diner who found the starters better than the mains, with lamb that was tough in places and new potatoes that were average and under-seasoned. Others describe the same lamb shank as tasty, and one family ended their lunch planning to return.

“8:30PM on Saturday, Bistro France looked nice with a good menu. We were welcomed straight away and shown to a table for two by the window. Staff were all exemplary, smartly dressed, polite and professional. Drinks order was taken promptly. It was nice to be able to see into the kitchen. I ordered a steak, which was cooked to perfection and came with mushrooms, tomato and a home made creamy pepper sauce. Sue had a Chicken supreme with fondant potatoes which was served in lovely homemade creamy sauce, just as it should be. Service, food and ambiance were all 5 star. Miguel checked with us that everything was as it should be and was very engaging. Miguel made us feel like VIP's and made it a memorable experience. Well done Miguel and Bistro France!”

“Went here for my birthday on a Sunday for a roast. The roast itself was delicious and the service was amazing. I even got a free pudding as it was my birthday celebrations. Would highly recommend. I have booked to go back for father's day!”

“The vibe and ambience were fantastic! Our server Laura was lovely and friendly! Had my birthday meal there! I’d say food was decent! We thought starters were better than the mains! For starters we had French onion soup and pork belly! Mains we had beef bourguignon and lamb shank! Portions were big ! Lamb was a bit tough in certain areas and not in a good way, you want the lamb to be tender throughout with a good mouth feel! Mash and gravy were tasty! The dark chocolate brownie was delicious! The side of new potatoes was average - seasoning could be better!”

“We ate at Bistro Franc for my husband’s birthday today last Thursday lunchtime. Three of us including 18 year old daughter. Beautiful restaurant, lovely staff and oh my gosh the food was gorgeous. We ate off the Prix Fixe menu which was great value and so delicious. I had the goats cheese & walnut salad (so lovely!), sea bass (crispy and delightful) and new potatoes and pancetta (yum!) Daughter was feeling adventurous and had mussels and prawns, which she loved. Husband loved his meatballs, sea bass and hand cut chips. We will definitely be back!”
