Quick info
About Floating Grace
Floating Grace is a steamboat restaurant in Liverpool at 1 Salthouse Quay, serving meals on morning, tea and evening cruises. Each cruise runs about two hours, and the skipper gives live commentary on the docks, the historic buildings and local history. Afternoon tea is served on board, with tea and coffee orders taken at the table. A Sunday roast dinner cruise offers apple pie and custard for dessert, and steak pie and nut roast are among the other dishes. Cocktails are on the drinks list. Staff bring food and drinks to the tables, and the bill is paid at the bar. Music plays throughout, with a boat disco and sing-along on the way back. Reservations are required. Guests reach the boat down a ramp from Albert Dock level.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the skipper's live commentary on the docks and Liverpool's history, delivered with humour, as the heart of the cruise. Close behind is the food, with afternoon tea the most common order. Diners also name a steak pie one called the best they had eaten, a roast dinner with tender chicken and thin tasty gravy, apple pie and custard, and a nut roast. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and helpful, including helping a mobility scooter user and a wheelchair user aboard. The music is praised as a great mix, though one reviewer found it a touch too loud for talking and another wanted fuller butties and more cream for the scones. Two reviewers say the boat is hard to find because it sits down a ramp out of sight from the car park, and one reviewer's satnav led somewhere else. They suggest a sign or display board along the dock. One reviewer reports slipping on the top step while getting off, and describes the captain and a doctor on board helping them. A boat disco sing-along on the way back rounds out several accounts.

“I went on floating grace yesterday with my friend, we had a lovely afternoon tea the service was excellent. The captain was very informative and pleasant. It was a lovely afternoon until I was getting off I slipped on the top step falling quite heavy, I was struggling to get back up when this lovely man and the captain helped me up I cannot thank them enough I was lucky there was a Dr on the boat and she checked me over all the staff where brilliant the Captain made sure I got to the top of the ranp safely. If it wasn't the fact that my very good friend was behind me and stopped me falling backwards down the stairs. I would like to apologise to the other people on the boat for their patience in waiting for me to get off the steps, once again I cannot thank all these people enough.”

“31 July 2026 3pm to 5pm Went with a friend for afternoon tea. We had a lovely time. Food was nice, staff were really helpful, friendly nothing was too much trouble. Commentary was really interesting and great mix of music. We will definitely go again. I feel this is a must do when visiting Liverpool. I would suggest they improve their advertising, maybe place a display board somewhere along the dock so more people are aware of it.”
