About Roscoe Head
Roscoe Head is a Victorian pub on Roscoe St in Liverpool, dating back to 1831. It has appeared in every edition of the CAMRA Good Beer Guide since the guide began. The bar serves real ales on cask, with up to six available at a time, and Tetley's cask bitter is one of the beers poured. The building is split into several small rooms: a tiny front room, a bar area and two other rooms, plus snugs. Food stays simple, with real pies as a snack and bags of crisps at the bar. The pub opens daily. Cash is preferred at the bar, and card payments carry a minimum spend.

Customer Review Summary
Well-kept cask ale is what reviewers return to Roscoe Head for, with a pint of Yarl from Fyne Ales described as in perfect condition and a North Cotswold Hung Drawn and Portered praised as the follow-up. Several mention up to six real ales on at once, and a cask bitter earns an "excellent" from more than one visitor. Close behind is the setting: a small, unspoiled Victorian pub with a tiny front room, a bar and snugs that reviewers call cosy and intimate. Several point out that it has appeared in every edition of the Good Beer Guide. Pies and bags of crisps are the snacks named. The bar staff and landlord are described as friendly and welcoming, and the regulars are said to make it hard to leave. One reviewer recalls the landlord pointing out three ales they had missed and explaining each one's flavour profile without being asked.

“Been wanting to try this place out for a while, and I finally got the chance. Stopped by Roscoe Head after a friend recommended it for its selection of classic ales and lagers on tap; and it definitely lived up to the hype. The drinks were absolutely splendid, with a great traditional feel to the whole experience. The bar staff were friendly and welcoming, and the interior had a quiet, cosy vibe that made it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a proper pint.”

“I have got to say this maybe the best pub in the city of Liverpool. Great service and a lovely atmosphere.”

“Visited a few great pubs in 2 weeks so far in the UK, this may possibly be the best. I ordered Yarl from Fyne Ales, the landlord without prompting pointed out 3 ales I hadn't spotted, explaining their flavour profiles. Extremely impressive and guaranteed I would at least stay for a second pint after the Yarl. The pint was £4.50(200 THB) and was in absolutely perfect condition. Even better was the North Cotswold Hung Drawn and Portered, I had after it. The landlord had discovered the brewery on his travels and then worked with the brewery to get it to Liverpool- outstanding. Cash payment was preferred and was happy to oblige.a business so deserving of support.”

“A mainstay in the Good Beer Guide from the very beginning with plenty of options on the cask front together with great service. Top class regulars to have a natter with can make it difficult to leave. £5.00 minimum spend if paying by card.”
