About Peter Kavanagh's
Peter Kavanagh's is a pub in the Georgian area of Liverpool, at 2-6 Egerton St, a narrow street near the Cathedral. Its longtime landlord commissioned the murals, stained glass and carvings that decorate the pub, and he also designed the tables in the snug. Quirky objects add to the display behind the bar. Small alcoves and the snug work as separate drinking rooms for private conversation. Four cask handles serve hand-pulled real ales, with draught options alongside. The pub opens daily and has mostly local regulars. Quiz nights and live music are part of the regular line-up.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the interior, a historic, quirky room of murals, stained glass, carvings and old artifacts, where the small alcoves and the snug are called the best part. One describes losing track of time studying the details behind the bar. Close behind are the drinks: hand-pulled cask ales, a Shropshire ale, and a creamy Guinness that one diner found by searching for the best in the city. Several call the pints cheap or reasonably priced. Staff are described as friendly and welcoming, the crowd as mostly locals, and a small outdoor seating area gets mentions. The only hesitation is practical: one reviewer could not tell from outside whether it was open, and another waited for the noon opening. One reviewer chatted with the cellar man, who filled them in on the history of the place.

“I’ve had this pub on my list for a while now, but wasn’t sure when I’d finally visit since it’s quite far away from most other places. It turned out to be the perfect warm, sunny day to go, and the visit ended up being pretty spontaneous. I absolutely loved the old, quirky vibe this place gives off. What attracted me most was the unique bar; I’d seen pictures of it online before, and it’s honestly just as interesting in person. I could easily spend ages just gazing at all the little details without even realising. We ordered two pints of Madri, sat outside, and soaked up the sunshine. A really lovely experience overall.”

“Lovely traditional pub that feels genuine and not just a theme pub. Off the beaten track so mostly locals. Good selection of beers and nice staff.”
