About Crust
Crust is a French restaurant in Lincoln, set upstairs at 252 High St, with a single door opening onto High Street. One chef runs it, cooking the food and serving it himself, so the person in the kitchen is also the one at the table. Service is silver service in an old-fashioned style, and dishes are cooked to order. Steak dishes come with vegetables and potatoes. The wine list is extensive, and wine is also available by the carafe. The decoration reflects the chef's career.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers center on a single chef who cooks and serves every meal himself, a one man band approach that nearly every review mentions, with several saying it felt like a private chef. Steak with vegetables and potatoes draws praise for being cooked to each diner's preference, and one reviewer singles out the gravy as superb. Close behind, diners describe good wine, including a carafe, and an extensive wine selection, along with old fashioned silver service in an upstairs room with a door on the street that is easy to miss. Several say the starter, side vegetables and dessert all tasted as good as the mains. The one trade-off reviewers raise is pace: because one person handles everything, a few suggest booking and leaving the whole afternoon or evening free, and one says it suits those who like to take their time and enjoy conversation. Another says to come only if open-minded. Several mention the chef chatting at the table about his life as a chef.

“An old-fashioned restaurant located upstairs, with only a door opened on High street that you may missed. Everything tastes amazing, from the starter to the dessert, even the side vegetables. You can feel Chef Victor’s passion and dedication to the food from his cooking and serving. Highly recommend to everyone who visits or lives in Lincoln!”

“What a unique restaurant! Victor is a true one man band. I would recommend this restaurant if you like to take your time over your meal and enjoy good conversation. The food was amazing and cooked to order by Victor and served by Victor. It truly felt like we had a private chef! We will definitely be back.”

“We had a lovely steak meal with vegetables and a good carafe of wine. We both had different steaks and different cooking times but both were perfect for our tastes. The vegetables and potatoes were fresh and cooked perfectly. The gravy/sauce was superb. Mr Vella served us himself and he did a great job. As it was quiet he was able to chat with us and he has led an interesting life. Next time I'm in Lincoln I'll definitely be making a reservation.”

“My partner and I have always been intrigued by Crust, having walked past and read so many great reviews, but never been in, until last month! We had an incredible experience here, being greeted, served, and cooked by Victor, who told us both about his incredibly rich life as a chef, which you can see in the decoration and feel within each bite. Crust is a unique experience that can’t be topped by any other dining experience in Lincoln. We really look forward to dining here again.”
