About Lawson's Bar & Bistro
Lawson's Bar & Bistro is a restaurant on The Strait in Lincoln, set in a building whose architecture is a noted feature. The dining room takes reservations and opens for lunch, where three courses are offered from a set menu booked in advance. Drawn from a regularly changing menu, plates have included belly pork, lamb tagine, beef in peppercorn sauce with tagliatelle and rocket, and steak. Desserts rotate through a specials board, with sticky toffee pudding, vanilla cheesecake and baked peach with mascarpone appearing in past service. The room occupies an old style building, with the surrounding character reflected in the interior. Dogs are welcome inside.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers consistently praise the three course lunch menu, with the blade of beef singled out as a standout, alongside sticky toffee pudding and a baked peach dessert with mascarpone. Most describe service as exceptional and attentive, and several highlight the historic atmosphere. A few note minor lapses, including one whose main appeared to have sat under a hot lamp, and a disappointing glass of Merlot.

“Just great, my American relatives are going to love this when I take them next time they visit, especially the architecture.”

“Loved everything about this Bistro. Booked in advance for the lunchtime menu. Everything was just perfect. Four of us enjoyed different dishes from the 3 course menu. Everything that was served was just so tasty, and for the menu price point - absolutely spot on. I can't describe the loveliness of everything we were served, but I will give a special mention to the belly pork and blade of beef. Not to forget, behind all of the lovely food and atmosphere is some amazing staff. We felt very welcome, and totally looked after, over a lazy mid-week lunch. Will definitely be going back, and have not stopped telling people about this place since we were there. Thank you Lawsons Bistro. We will see you again soon.”

“We’ve had lunch here twice in quick succession. We’ve not been for a while as the lunch menu doesn’t vary much and we have friends who put this place on hiatus for the same reason. However the addition of beef in peppercorn sauce with tagliatelle and rocket called out to me. It’s delicious. The lunch menu is £28 for three courses and this is tremendous value especially since we eat at 2pm and don’t need to eat again that day. Two weeks ago I had a dessert from the specials board of baked peach with mascarpone and it was exceptional. I’d love to see that return. Vanilla cheesecake this time. Very nice indeed. No specials at all today. I had a glass of Merlot but that was disappointing, the only bad point. Service as ever was exceptional. Food presentation and taste scoring high. Total cost was £65 for two people. Service is what you wish to pay. Lawsons are a very safe pair of hands. Thank you.”

“This restaurant offers a quaint old style restaurant atmosphere providing great service and food. We had two different dishes and both were very good. Make sure you try the sticky toffee pudding.”
