About Coffee by the Arch
Coffee by the Arch is a coffee shop at 9 Newport in the Bailgate area of uphill Lincoln, run by two sisters. Coffee is made from the house blend, with a choice of syrups that includes a coconut latte. The food side covers almond croissants, a bacon roll and cakes, and pots of tea come alongside. The space is small, with just a few tables. Dogs are welcome inside, and the team hands out a free doggy treat or a puppuccino on request.

Customer Review Summary
Coffee is the draw reviewers mention most, with several calling the house blend really good and one naming it the best in Lincoln. A coconut latte stands out among the syrup options, and a pot of tea is praised for stretching to three cups. Close behind is the food: almond croissants that a park run regular says are worth the 5km, a bacon roll, and a ciabatta with sausage, cheese and tangy onion that one diner called heavenly. Another describes generous portions and delicious everything. Staff are called friendly and lovely, and the outdoor tables suit people watching up the hill. The drawbacks are mostly about space and choice. The cafe is described as tiny with just a few tables, seats are hard to find on a sunny day, and one reviewer wished for different coffee sizes. Another objected that smoking is not allowed in the outside seating area. Dogs are repeatedly welcomed inside and out, and reviewers mention puppuccinos on request and a free doggy treat.

“I love dogs and all animals but I don't want their hair in my cake and coffee. The owner made ridiculous excuses that left me wondering if it was his hair or a dogs? I was so upset I had to leave in tears. Please reconsider your refreshment choices; at least they don't allow dogs in Greggs....”

“Ive been here with my brother many times, it was previously a charity shop. It is very good especially the tea.The cakes are also very good. The only problem is they won't let you smoke in the outside seating area which seems a bit unreasonable. to those of us who like a fag with our cup of tea or coffee. 9.5 out of 10”
