About Cafe St. Paul's
Cafe St. Paul's is an independent cafe bar and restaurant in Lincoln, on St Paul's Ln, with an upstairs balcony where the tables look out over the castle walls. The kitchen serves breakfast, including a cooked breakfast with coffee, and sourdough bread comes out of it too. Burgers are on the menu, among them the Big Smoke Classic burger and a vegan burger. The bar pours cocktails, wine and draught beers, so the drinks list covers more than coffee. Tasting menu evenings pair courses with drinks, such as the St Lucian Rum Tasting night.

Customer Review Summary
Breakfast is the draw reviewers raise most, from a late breakfast on the upstairs balcony to a hot cooked breakfast with great coffee on a buzzing Saturday morning. Close behind is Sunday lunch, where one diner praises the lamb special and another the best gravy they have ever tasted. Burgers also earn repeat mentions, including the Big Smoke Classic and a vegan burger. Service is described as friendly, smiley, patient and attentive, and one reviewer calls the value good. The one criticism comes from a breakfast diner who dislikes sourdough with a cooked breakfast and asks for a couple of normal bread loaves. One couple also praised a rum tasting evening with paired courses and drinks. Two reviewers close on the same detail: a table with a view of the castle walls.

“We drink here regularly and also eat here fairly regularly and it’s always great the antithesis of typical pub food. Every meal has a little something different which individualises it as being top restaurant quality all at VERY reasonable prices. Our latest outing was their Sunday lunch for which I’d the lamb special which was exceptionally good. I’d summarise the food as dangerously good, that is because even though you’re full you can’t resist just another bit and another bit! Highly recommend and enjoy!”

“Stopped here by chance, and very glad we did. Had a lovely late lunch. Food was really nice. Service was swift and friendly. Good value as well. Highly recommended.”

“What a lovely place. The food was tasty as you like, steak cooked to perfection. The best thing was the service. We went on 25/09/26 and I wish I'd taken the name of waitress down so I could give her a mention. She was absolutely fab, smiley, patient and attentive, a real credit to the place. Excellent imo.”

“OMG why has it taken until now for me to actually go in?! What a gem. Fantastic breakfast (hot!) and great coffee. Personable super-friendly service. An absolute belter and would highly recommend. Will be back very soon.”

“This is the second occasion I have eaten at St Paul in the bail. The restaurant wasn’t too busy. The staff were polite and professional. They were on hand to ensure we enjoyed our drinks and food. I had the Big Smoke Classic burger. I have to say it’s the most delicious burger I’ve had in a long time. I would highly recommend this Cafe as a venue with outstanding food and great service”
