The menu starts with a Full English breakfast, served as an all day breakfast with sausages, and moves on to hearty plates like steak pie and steak and kidney pudding. Customer Review Summary

The full English breakfast is the main draw. One repeat visitor calls it the best they have had anywhere in the UK and singles out the sausages as exceptionally tasty. Another describes the freshest tasting breakfast, with no fat or grease, and a third praises a light breakfast with coffee. Close behind are the hearty lunch dishes, including a steak and kidney pudding with crispy suet pastry and rich gravy, and a steak pie and All Day Breakfast at Sunday lunch. Reviewers repeatedly mention friendly, welcoming staff, generous portions, and a large menu with plenty of lighter choices. One adds that dogs are met with water bowls and treats. Value draws mixed comments. One diner finds prices slightly above average but fair for the quality, while another was let down by a sausage and egg sandwich with red sauce so sparse the bread showed through. One lunch visitor called the burgers greasy and was told by a staff member that the table they had been allowed to take was meant for three, not two.

“The food is fine, but, when i'm paying £5 for a simple sausage and egg sandwich with red sauce, did they really have to be that tight with the ketchup that you could still see the bread through the ration-sized dribble? It surely doesnt eat into your costs that much?”

“Me and my husband went for a lunch date yesturday 6th october. This place was full of people and the only seats available was at the window near the door. A table that clearly said for 3 people only. We asked one of the staff if we could sit at the table which she had said yes. Whilst we was waiting for our food another member of staff told us that the table we was sat at was for 3 people not 2. Rude and obnoxious is an understatment, you do not speak to people like that, and this member of staff needs to do a course on customer care. Or get rid of her!! Bad for business. Food was ok burgers were greasy although ended up with a bad stomach not worth the £35 spent and totally ruined mine and my husbands lunch date. Will not be going there again!!!! What other cafe puts a sign on a table, that that table is for 3 people only when it was a table that had 6 chairs round it?”

“This is simply the freshest tasting breakfast we have ever tasted, no fat or grease, each item perfectly placed and the flavours for each item on our plates tasted so divine, hats off to the chef. We have tested a lot of cafes and restaurants but Boodles have never let us down, the ingredients are specially chosen and it shows. The staff are always smiling and helpful. Please dont change a thing as we love coming for breakfast, thank you. X”

“We had a wonderful time at Boodles to celebrate our friend’s birthday. We are from NZ. We enjoyed the rich flavours, generous portions and down to earth food choices. It was good to taste freshly made food of good value. Since we’ve been back in Lincoln we have often experienced food in cafes/restaurants that taste bland and as though it’s been re-heated in a microwave in places referred to as ‘special restaurants.’ I hope this kind of cafe continues to thrive. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We didn’t have to wait long for the food. It was fresh and generous. I chose steak and kidney pudding with a crispy and tasty suet pastry with a rich tasting gravy. Absolutely delicious! Thank you so much.”

“Honestly, if hygiene is priority DO NOT attend this place for a meal, me and my friend arrived and witnessed a dog walk in. We thought nothing of it apart from a little disgust but then I witnessed the owners start petting and playing with the dog to then not even wash there hands and go back to the kitchen to make our food. I felt so sick I couldn’t even finish my plate. Service was nice there polite, however I’d never go back there again due to hygiene issues. This is exactly why dogs shouldn’t be allowed in cafes.”
