About Grain Store at Doddington Hall
Grain Store at Doddington Hall is a cafe in Lincoln serving menus built around the estate's own pasture-fed Lincoln Red beef, game and Kitchen Garden produce. The Grain Store Breakfast pairs bacon, mushroom, grilled tomato, eggs, toast and preserves with sausage, hash-brown puffs and baked beans. The cake menu includes a caramel shortcake, served with coffee. The cafe is open daily for breakfast, lunch and cake, and the older café area sits alongside a newer upstairs restaurant. That restaurant opens on Friday and Saturday evenings for à la carte dining. On Sundays it serves a roast of beef and porchetta, with cauliflower cheese and braised red cabbage on the side. The cafe runs on a walk-in basis, and breakfast takes no bookings. A farm shop sits on site.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast draws the most praise, with reviewers singling out tender beef, melt-in-the-mouth porchetta, cauliflower cheese and braised red cabbage, alongside service described as perfect from start to finish. Breakfast is close behind, where the Grain Store Breakfast is called genuinely very good, though one reviewer finds the single sausage, handful of hash-brown puffs and small serving of beans too little, and another says the bacon wasn't crispy and the cappuccino had little froth. Also mentioned are the caramel shortcake with coffee, a chocolate cremeux, a Caesar salad, lentil dhal and cottage pie. Reviewers describe a light, airy interior with views across the estate. The recurring complaints are about portions and value. One Sunday lunch diner received two slices of beef, got a third after complaining, and found the vegetables lukewarm and a large glass of Shiraz overpriced. Another reviewer asked for extra hot lattes, received them only warm, and was given one plate for a shared scone.

“Visited this afternoon ordered two lattes extra hot we emphasised EXTRA HOT! and the waitress said no problem. We also ordered a scone & jam. The lattes arrived only warm and only one plate for the scone even though we said we were sharing. Not sure the customer comes first, if it had I wouldn’t be doing this negative review. Has the potential of being a great cafe/restaurant but please listen to your paying customers and serve as the customer has requested. Won’t be returning anytime soon.”

“Excellent Food and Atmosphere. I had the Lentil Dhal and the Wife had the Cottage Pie. Both really happy.”

“Lovely breakfast, good quality food and decent portions. Bacon could have been cooked a bit more, wasn't crispy at all, so if you like it crispy, make sure to mention that when placing your order. Paid £40 for 2 adult breakfast, one kids breakfast, 2x coffee, 1x tea. Pleasant staff. Cappuccino didn't have much froth, looked more like white americano. Nice area, free parking, lovely but rather pricey farm shop. Good place to buy fresh meat and veggies. They don't take bookings, only walk-ins. Would definitely return if I were to look again for a breakfast place in the area.”

“Was recommended here when in the area for a weekemd away. The actual building is really nice inside and out, has a lovely feel to it. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable of the food, which was exceptional. All potions were of a decent size and we were suitable full at the end, the chocolate cremeux was particularly amazing. Overall a great experience and will definitely be back. Bonus as well for ample parking and ev chargers onsite.”
