About Five Bridges
Five Bridges is a family pub on Queenborough Rd on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent. Families get an outdoor play area for children and an indoor toddler activity area, so there is a dedicated spot for younger guests both outside and in. The kitchen serves a traditional carvery, with a Sunday carvery on the menu, and runs a separate lunchtime menu. Burgers include the Cowboy Burger, built with two beef patties, bacon, cheese, lettuce and a burger sauce dip, and a mixed grill is also listed. Guests order and pay at the bar.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the burgers, and mostly as a value complaint: the Cowboy Burger arrived without lettuce or burger sauce, came dry in a burnt bun, and was described as small for its price. Several say the adult burger was the same size as the children's meal, and one was told the adult version only adds a bit of bacon and an extra patty. Service draws close behind, with food arriving slowly, a mixed grill taking about half an hour, and a veggie burger returned cold and falling apart, which ended in a refund without an apology. The hunters chicken was called burnt, dry, and only about three bites. A few note the carvery running behind and items out of stock. Praise is thinner: breaded garlic mushrooms, a cauliflower starter, generous portions, and polite staff, plus a 40% off mains offer and two children winning a free dessert. One diner was found a table for five without a booking.

“I had a very disappointing experience , when visiting with family for lunch,I ordered the Ultimate veggie burger, I had to wait until everyone had there’s and when it arrived it looked nice, but when I cut it half the burger fell to bits, and it was very cold, so I returned it to the young bar staff and told her, she looked at me and said are you sure they have only just made it, I repeated myself again, and she became rude and said do you want a fresh one then, she didn’t even take the plate from me and walked off without another word. I left the plate of food on the bar and returned to my family, 30 minutes later I was still waiting for my meal everyone had finished there food, I went back to the bar same staff and asked her were my meal was? Her words were haven’t you got it yet, I went on to tell her I want a full refund, without a word she went and got another member of staff . He sorted my refund without a apology.it returned to my bank 3 days later .”

“A nice pub staffed by polite staff.... that's the good bit! Came here for a carvery on 9th August 2026 and only experienced disappointment. On arrival we were told that there was a delay of 30 minutes for the carvery to be ready to serve food....this was at 2.30pm. We decided to order something else and low and behold after only 15 minutes the carvery was replenished and serving had begun. Now we waited and waited for the mixed grill we had ordered to be brought to our table....it eventually came after 30 minutes!.(I had to go to the bar and ask where our meal was...it seemed like they had forgot!.) So this place has lovely staff yes but on this particular day it had a total lack of communication from the kitchen to the bar staff. As we left after about an hour customers arriving were also being told once again that the carvery would be a 30 minute wait!...a carvery should not occasionally run out of food during service. Needless to say we left feeling disappointed and very unlikely to return here. With more communication this could be a pleasant place to have a meal. Unfortunately at this time i would definitely not recommend visiting here.... certainly not for the Sunday carvery.”

“This was our first time in here and it was an awful experience. We were a group of 12 on 3 separate orders and pretty much the only ones in here, so much of the food we wanted to order was out of stock which we only found out after ordering. The chicken on the hunters chicken was burnt and crispy, the best part of our meals was the cauliflower starter. We all had 3 courses each with drinks and sides so spent a small fortune in here but based on this experience we wouldn't return. The outside tables just out of the door where we were sitting were full of glasses and plates and none of these were cleared the whole time we were here neither were our tables we piled all the plates etc up and moved them ourself. Not once did anyone come over to check everything was ok with our meals either.”

“Haven't been for a while but the food at previous visits has mostly been far better than our latest experience. My chicken was so dry it was difficult to get through and my partners cowboy burger was also dry, lacking lettuce and came in a burnt bun.We regularly eat out and this combined meal was by far the worst we have had this year.We weren't asked how our meal was,the only time we spoke to any staff was at the bar to take the order. We won't be returning and won't be passing our remaining voucher on to anyone else as would be too embarrassed if they experienced a meal as we did.Its not even worth the 40% off.”

“On the isle of Sheppy where there doesn’t seem to be any life it’s great to find this Marston’s. We hadn’t booked and the kind waiter found us a table for five with no issues. Food was even better as we signed up to the website and received a 40% off mains. My Indian platter was a little over cooked but the rest of our families meal was bang on. I felt compelled to leave this review as both my children won a free desert. Thank you so much for a lovely meal”

“A warm welcome is in store at The Five Bridges in Kent—a proper family-friendly pub on the Isle of Sheppey. Just a few hundred metres from the banks of the Swale, and yards from the end of Queenborough Creek, we’re a great place to eat out come rain or shine. When the sun’s out, our patio area is the perfect spot for lunch or dinner, and the outdoor children’s play area is always a favourite with our younger guests. Indoors, we have a toddler activity area, and plenty of space for families enjoying our great pub food and traditional carvery.”
