“Just visited this little gem today 1st may 2026 for the first time in 61 years since I last visited with my dad in the pub garden ,I wasn't disappointed what a lovely pub and well kept gardens ,I had a meal and best pie iv eaten for many years ,will be visiting more frequently from now on”

“Feel really bad want to give more stars but the food was bland, wierd to have a meat free battered steak bland thing with a roast, the potatoes were nice but the rest of the veg was tepid and the stuffing, the gravy didn't taste of much. The cauliflower cheese is not cheesey, even said to staff previously but obviously they didnt pass it on. Used to go in there and the food was great. Got more taste adding horseradish. The pie my husband had was sloppy and the mash wasn't real mash. Sorry guys think you need a new chef, otherwise great pub and garden”

“Update 19/04/2025 My mum decided to hold her 95th birthday party here on 16th April 2050. From designing the event in advance, seating arrangements, and menu selections The owners Dave and Steve, together with the ever busy and very efficient and helpful Jo simply could not have been more helpful in helping us make sure the lunch party went smoothly and without a hitch. It was a fantastic lunch amongst the total 17 family members and friends (many of whom were of the older generation with walkers and walking frames etc) but every potential problem seemed to have been foreseen and catered for. So well done Jo, she did a wonderful job looking after us all, seemingly almost single handed. Thank you all. Several years earlier......... My crew mate and I usually manage to pop in early on a Friday evening after a hard shift on our ambulance. Even though our beer intake is necessarily very limited and we dine only very occasionally we have always been made extremely welcome by owners and staff alike. Wonderful atmosphere, very clean, cosy and friendly, great choice of ales and excellent well prepared food. The ham egg and chips dish is my personal favourite. Well done lads and thank you.”

“Dropped in with the Wife and Kids for Lunch after a walk around riverside. Instantly we felt welcome and comfortable, the atmosphere is lovely and the food is exceptional. The kids had sausage, chips beans (as usual) and they loved it, between the wife and I we had the Chicken Sunday roast and the Homemade Lamb and Mint Pie. The Pie was the best I have had in any pub hands down and the Roast was excellent. 10/10 would highly recommend and will certainly be back!”
