About Red Lion
Red Lion is a pub and bar on High Street in Sheerness, run as a community house by a landlord and landlady. The kitchen runs a Sunday roast as a special, alongside standard pub plates that include scampi and chips. Pre-ordering meals is an option for group bookings, which lets the kitchen have plates ready when a party sits down. For occasions, staff will plate outside cakes brought in for the table and serve them with strawberries on a wooden board, taking the hosting load off guests. The pub format covers the role of a neighbourhood meeting point as well as a drinking spot, with the bar side carrying it through quieter hours. A mixed menu sits behind both functions, bridging lunch trade and the later crowd without committing the room to a single identity.

Customer Review Summary
A traditional community pub in Sheerness, the Red Lion draws most praise for its Sunday roast, with several visitors singling out the generous portions and piping hot, home cooked food, and regulars naming scampi and chips as a favourite. The landlady and her team come in for repeated compliments, described as genuinely welcoming and thoughtful, from waiting until a full party is seated before cooking, to presenting a shop bought cake on a wooden board with strawberries for a 60th birthday meal. Drink quality divides opinion: while Guinness fans call the pint excellent, one reviewer marks the pub down for a basic beer lineup. The atmosphere is consistently described as warm and friendly, with steady lunchtime trade and a Friday buzz that staff say is daily. Visitors recommend booking ahead for group meals and trying the Sunday special.

“We hadden plaatsjes bezocht op Sheppey en kwamen bij deze pub uit voor eten. Ik denk dat het wel rustiger was dan normaal. Het eten was perfect! Het personeel was bekwaam en zeer vriendelijk. Een aanrader om hier wat te drinken en/of te eten.”

“I visit the Red Lion often for catch up meal with friends or a cheeky lunch with my husband while kids are at school! However, yesterday I booked for a surprise meal for my mum's 60th, we pre ordered all the meals except my mums. Jeanette was welcoming from the moment we arrived, checking in about the food saying she won't start cooking until everyone was here and seated. The food came out quickly and we were all pleased with the size of our meals. The food was delicious, as always, my fussy 9 year old cleared her plate which is very rare when out! I had purchased a cake and cupcakes from tesco which we'd handed over to Jeanette on arrival, when we said to bring the cake out I was amazed at the presentation Jeanette had done to these shop brought cakes they looked amazing on a wooden board with strawberries. My mum has lived on the island 60 years and had never visited the Red Lion before but she's already said she will be back. Thank you Jeanette and the team so making yesterday's meal perfect 👌”

“Not a bad pub, cosy and good music but knocking a star off for a very basic beer lineup.”
