About Sharon's Plaice
Sharon's Plaice is a family-run fish and chips shop on Savoy Road in Hull, where the counter takes walk-in orders and payment is cash only. Battered fish and chips anchor a short menu of four dishes, with homemade patties made in house alongside the fried fish. Chips also come as a chip buttie, and mushy peas feature in a fish, chips and peas meal deal. The shop opens Monday to Saturday and closes on Sundays.

Customer Review Summary
Fish and chips draw the most praise, with reviewers calling the fish fresh and delicious and one describing the batter as perfect. Chips and peas get steady mentions alongside, and the homemade patties are called very good by one reviewer. Staff are described as friendly in nearly every review. Several reviewers say they are regulars or plan to return after a first visit, and one calls it the best chippy in East Yorkshire. A couple of reviewers were less impressed. One who ordered haddock, chips and peas found the batter undercooked, with flour residue inside and a greasy finish, and the chips so soggy they drooped when picked up, though the peas were lovely and the portion generous. Another who ordered a chip buttie felt the chips had a weird taste, as if the oil was old. The first reviewer still found the shop spotless and the staff chatty, and said they would try again to see whether it was a one off.

“Sharons Plaice, 8 Savoy Rd, Hull. Small mead deal..Haddock, Chips and Peas. £6.50. Visited after reading google reviews and noting their score. Unfortunately for me it didnt quite hit the spot. Although the portion size was excellent for the price. The batter on the fish was undercooked, leaving a lot of flour residue inside and making it far too greasy ( see pic). The fish itself was tasty enough but the batter really let it down. Chips were in my opinion also soggy, so much so they drooped badly when picked up. Taste wise they were ok. Peas were lovely, i usually like them a little runnier, but they were as good as Ive had. The staff were friendly and chatty..and the place was spotless. I will try again in the future to see if it was a one off. But on this occassion it let me down.”
