Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often return to the coffee, pointing to the huge list of coffees from around the world, with an Americano with oatmilk, a flat white and a latte named specifically, plus a pot of tea. Food comes close behind, with chicken salad, mozzarella salad and premium toasties with a side salad described as delicious, well prepared and in big portions. Several mention friendly staff, and the owner earns praise for a warm welcome. One reviewer describes him letting them finish their coffee after closing. Some note the menu is limited or basic, and the seating area is tiny. The sharpest complaint is about a slow visit where three quick meals and two drinks took 45 minutes, one order was taken down wrong and had to be redone, and the back table was warm and dark. That reviewer also found seasonal menu options only revealed at ordering. Another reviewer, hit by a delivery problem, could not get the food they wanted, and the owner would not let them pay for the meal.

“The owner had some struggles with a delivery so I wasn't able to get the food I wanted, but he was incredibly kind and wouldn't let me pay for my meal due to the mix ups. Service was friendly and would definitely recommend for a coffee and an affordable breakfast”

“The staff were really good. I really enjoyed the service. However, the site was tiny, and the menu was quite limited and basic.”
  • Joshua Wright
“Delicious food, but took a long time to arrive. Party of three arrived, prominent four person table taken up by one person, with plenty of one and two seaters free. This should have been managed better. Found a smaller table at the back, very warm with no fans/AC and little to no lighting. No staff noticed this and proactively turned on the light, or at least told us if it was broken. Great selection of food, but some options were seasonal and menus not updated until ordering with table service. This was disappointing to an ill member of the party who wanted a smaller meal. Three quick meals and two drinks (one coffee, one smoothie) took 45 minutes to arrive. One order had been taken down wrong so had to be redone, but the excuse of "it's very busy" seemed ridiculous as there were very few people in the cafe and no couriers appeared for takeaway orders. It was only our second visit, first one was better but still not great, but in a highly competitive area of Hull the standards should be higher.”

“Nice little gem! Well done. Coffee is really good. Gentleman is polite. Allowed us to finish coffee although the cafe just closed.”
