Quick info
About Milchig
Milchig is a small coffee shop at Unit 12 in Paragon Arcade, Hull, serving specialty coffee alongside toast, sandwiches and cookies. The hot honey halloumi toast gives the menu a savoury centrepiece, and the Dubai-style pistachio cookie is there for anyone who wants something sweet with their drink. A zaatar egg sandwich is on offer for brunch. The menu changes with the seasons, so what sits on the counter shifts through the year. The space is compact with limited seating, which suits a quick stop for a coffee and a bite. The kitchen is small and not suited to coeliacs, a point the cafe states clearly.

Customer Review Summary
Cookies are the most repeated draw at Milchig, with reviewers singling out the pistachio Dubai chocolate cookie and the ginger and white chocolate cookies, one of whom took extra home to have with hot custard. Close behind are the savoury brunch dishes: the hot honey halloumi toast, the zaatar egg sandwich and the grilled cheese, which one reviewer calls sublime. Several name the coffee as the best in Hull, and one describes a specialty coffee with toast meringue and sea salt, while another pairs the grilled cheese with tea. The iced matcha with strawberry flakes also gets a mention. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and sweet, and a few appreciate the seasonal menu that changes through the year. The main caveats are space and dietary limits: one reviewer notes there may not be enough room, and another says it is not good for celiacs, though the cafe states this clearly because of its small kitchen. One reviewer arriving at opening on a Friday still found room for five.

“Absolutely amazing experience. I was on a visit to Hull from Leeds and what a gem I have found. The staff are so polite and well spoken. Service was efficient and food and drinks arrived quickly. I ordered the zaatar egg sandwich and I have never had a better brunch sandwich- the flavours were unreal! I have tried many cafes around the country and nothing comes close to this. I will definitely be back.”
