  “So disappointing compared to Big Beach Cafe days. Awful stroppy servers, no indication food would take a while (which Big Beach Cafe always did), over half an hour wait for food, soggy chips, tasteless fish finger sandwich and falling apart tuna bagel.”

  “⭐⭐ 2-star review 45 minutes for two toasties and two kids’ chicken nuggets and chips? Unfortunately, our experience today was extremely disappointing. We waited around 45 minutes for two basic toasties and two children’s meals consisting of chicken nuggets and chips. For food that is relatively straightforward to prepare, that sort of wait is simply unacceptable. When we asked the kitchen team how much longer the food would be, the response from one member of the kitchen staff came across as though our question was amusing. There is absolutely nothing funny about customers waiting 45 minutes for basic food, especially when they have children with them. Hospitality is about more than just putting food on a plate. Customers are paying for a service and should be treated with basic courtesy and respect when they reasonably ask why their food is taking so long. Perhaps the menu is simply too ambitious for the kitchen if basic meals are regularly taking this long. Whatever the reason, 45 minutes for toasties and nuggets and chips is nowhere near acceptable. Sadly, based on today's experience, we wouldn't recommend eating here. Date today: 25th August 2026”

  “We went to the Off The Beach Cafe last weekend as it's nicely located to the playground and carousels, and repeatedly had to experience delays in food delivery....it wasn't exceptionally full in the early afternoon hours, though we had to wait 50min for a few kids menus (fish and chips). That can happen once, though repeatedly seems a structural problem. What I had appreciated is that I had been told when ordering the food that it takes a while....the young staff (students?) try their best but are overwhelmed with whatever structural problems are in the background, and they haven't learned to properly handle customers and/or weren't educated by management. It's such a nice location but mismanagement destroys the experience for esp. the kids....you better only take water, ice cream or ready food.”

  “Sadly food took 45 minutes to arrive. One child received barely warm baked beans and was grudgingly given cardboard cutlery to eat with. Another had fish that didn’t taste very nice. I appreciate it was busy but feel that hygiene and customer service needs to be improved drastically. If you can’t produce the food promptly don’t take peoples money without giving them a realistic waiting time. Expensive! The only plus is that families can take dogs in.”

  “Staff bored 🥱 not that friendly. Food ok nothing special. Ordered egg which was overdone. Waiting for food very long, request to bring cutlery as brought food without. Staff brought Dirty cutlery to us! Dirty floor, tissues and papers on the floors, tables not cleaned. Would not recommend it.”

  “Still the same…..after the management change. On a good sunny day outside ifs nice , awnings available during the summer. Inside is small but personable. Lovely staff, order from the table is convenient, but use inside menu is clear o. The blackboards and you can see what’s available at the counter. Stopped in over the Brighton marathon for fish and chips…. Not the best though the Bengals were excellent and defo recommended. We will be back to try something different. Good value given the location on Hove seafront.”

  “Drove up from Southampton. Had a super crispy chicken Burger and cheesy chips. Some nice bits of Fat boy Slim's on the walls. Staff friendly and service was good. Would pop in again.. lovely walk along the promenade..”

  “popped here for a bit of quick lunch during my fiancé’s lunch break. very busy, owing to school holidays, and seating arrangement inside could be better (the only 2-seater was by the toilet) but there is plenty of outside seating if you can cope with the wind coming from the beach. lots of staff and friendly service. dogs allowed inside (always a bonus) and she even got a free sausage 😊 would go here again for cheap, quick food.”

  “Nice location! Had time to go for a swim while waiting for the food. Beef burger was ok, chicken burger not so nice, avo sandwich really not great. Fries were good! Nice atmosphere though and very nice for kids I guess. I would probably head somewhere else for lunch though.”

  “Great location. Lovely staff. Home made treats. Good coffee. Alcohole. Child friendly (very). Toilets. What's not to like! Great for a light lunch while the kids wear themselves out at the skate park next door. Interesting Fat Boy Slim memorabilia on the walls.”
