  “I’ve been checking out on this place for awhile before I planned to fly from Thailand to Brighton with my husband to visit this cafe, it’s a bit very disappointed. There’s very limited menu to order on the screen and we got told if we wanted to order more we have to check on online menu to order. But during that time our phones doesn’t work so we asked if there’s wifi in the cafe so we can look at the menu but there’s no wifi so we only ended up ordered some ice cream which is a bit too overpriced. It’s very disappointed for us because I’m a Sanrio fan myself and I’ve been looking forward to visiting the cafe for months.”

  “This was one of the highlights of our Brighton holiday as I'd specifically wanted to go here for a long time. The giftshop downstairs had lots of cute products for a decent price. I wish there was more but it's well stocked for the limited space. The staff were lovely and even gave me some spare bits and pieces for me junk journal when I mentioned I was collecting bits and pieces for it. The decor was amazing and is great for taking photos- even the bathrooms are themed! The food was lovely, reasonably priced and themed well. I wish there were a few more savoury choices though!”

  “What a cute place to go to!! The staff were very lovely and sweet, we ordered the My Melody and Kuromi cookie dough desserts alongside some drinks which were really yummy and adorable. The wait time for the food and drinks didn’t take long as when we came it wasn’t very busy which was around 12pm on a Friday and we also got a table for 2.”

  “ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED! Fans of Sanrio and/or Kuromi, you NEED to come here! Absolutely adorable interior with tasteful merchandise that doesn't feel generic or tacky like other Asia-themed shops in Brighton. It felt like I stepped into a themed cafe in Japan! Café is great value for money too! Purchased a latte with vanilla syrup for a total of £4.55 - much cheaper than London and large chain brands. Not overly sweet either, just the right balance between coffee, milk and vanilla. Will be coming back here on my next trip to Brighton to try the full menu.”

  “As a massive Sanrio fan, I travelled 9 hours from Scotland to try the artbox cafe. I was genuinely so excited but when I went there, I felt disappointed. The decor was lovely. There were so many photo opportunities and even the bathroom was cute! But it was very very busy… I agree that a booking system would probably improve the experience because it was very overwhelming and stressful trying to move around the shop. The food… I have to be honest. I was expecting it to be more many Melody and Kuromi themed. Maybe more decorative details, or more shapes, something to make it stand out. But it was very plain and not the best I’ve had. I got an iced caramel latte though and that was really good! Overall, I wasn’t really impressed. The staff were lovely, the decor was nice but I wouldn’t go out of my way to travel 9 hours again just to go to this place.”

  “I love the My Melody and Kuromi theme. The store on the ground floor has a lot of cute things for sale and the seating area upstairs is really pretty. My only complaint is that the gluten free food options are much more limited now which is shame because Artbox cafe used to be wonderful for Coeliacs. Still a very cute cafe though 💕”

  “An absolute must if you’re a Sanrio fan - the atmosphere is lovely, with lots of cute decor and nice little touches everywhere. The food and drinks are tasty, and fully themed, with fun decorations all over. Not the cheapest, but largely on par with a more premium cafe, so not unreasonable. The store downstairs has some items exclusive to the cafe (mainly mugs and pins), so even if you’ve been to the Artbox store in Covent Garden, it’s worth having a look around.”

  “The cutest cafe in Brighton! Right now it is My Melody and Kuromi themed. We went for afternoon tea. My partner got the Kuromi theme and I got the my Melody theme. The sweets are cute and perfectly on theme. They also taste great. The little sandwiches are also very tasty. We’re vegetarian, but they had the option to make it fully vegan which is nice. The staff is sweet, and when you’re done with your food, there is a cute shop downstairs with merch.”
