About Hilltop Cafe

Hilltop Cafe is a cafe in Brighton set among trees beside a walking spot, a stop for runners and cyclists where dogs are welcome too. Orders are placed counter-style for quick service, and the coffee comes from Small Butch. The menu runs from a full English breakfast, with a vegetarian option available, to sandwiches, burgers and a cheese and ham toastie. A jacket potato is served at lunch. Tables sit outdoors for eating in the open air under the trees. An onsite car park serves drivers, and its spaces turn over quickly.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often praise the coffee, with one naming a Small Butch brew, and the breakfast fare around it: a full English with a vegetarian option, a sausage and bacon bap, and burgers. Close behind come the sandwiches and a jacket potato one diner calls the biggest they have seen. Several mention friendly, quick service, and a few like sitting outside among the trees. One brings a dog for a walk nearby. Parking is described as ample, and one notes spaces turn over quickly on a Sunday morning. The main complaints concern cost and delivery. One reviewer finds the menu a touch expensive, while another says a cheese and ham toastie ordered through Uber arrived with very little filling, after which they would not order again and could not get a refund. That reviewer says the sandwiches are usually good when eaten in the cafe. Runners and cyclists coming and going are described as a steady part of the Sunday morning scene.

“Have driven past this cafe for many years, could not get parked in Brighton, so had lunch at Hilltop. Had the biggest jacket potato 🥔 i've ever seen. My meal and Tea were lovely, the staff were all friendly, the lunch was reasonably priced. Will deffo visit again 🙂 HAPPY DAYS”

“Great menu choice, quality food and great ingredients. Tasty stop for burgers even for breakfast and coffee was great too. You won’t be disappointed. Quick service ensures car parking spaces cycle quick enough. We were there for 30 mins on Sunday morning and at no point was there a wait for parking spaces.”
