About The Winter Gardens
The Winter Gardens is a pub at Unit 4 in Harrogate, set in a 1920s Art Deco former bathhouse that keeps its period features and a grand staircase. The interior is large, with plenty of room for seating. The kitchen serves breakfast, then moves on to gourmet burgers, freshly made pizzas and deli deal options, with vegetarian choices on the list. Fish and chips and the smokey burger are among the dishes ordered, and curries such as katsu sit alongside them. The bar covers real ales, craft beers, gins, cocktails and soft drinks. Tea and Lavazza coffee come with free refills. Orders are placed through the Wetherspoon app and brought to the table by staff.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the building itself, a historic venue with a grand staircase and period features that a couple call the best Spoons they have visited, one describing authentic 1920s Art Deco design. Low prices come close behind, with a group of six all ordering fish and chips and praising the crisp, fresh portions, and others naming smokey burgers, an American burger, tikka masala and katsu curry. Drinks are described as generous, with a good cocktail selection, and ordering through the app at the table brought food quickly. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and hardworking even when busy. The complaints recur: the main area is loud, one reviewer calling the chatter headache-inducing, the pub can get very warm in summer, and toilets are described as clean only in the mornings or when it is quiet. One reviewer found the food nothing to write home about, though tasty and filling. One group escaped the noise at a quieter table to the side.

“The usual spoons drinks and food menu, a much cheaper alternative to the other bars nearby. It can get very warm in summer so choose you seat wisely 😜. Toilets are clean when it's not too busy/ mornings, otherwise - just like others.”

“I just want to start with Wetherspoon’s pubs in general, I wish there was music on, these pubs will always be busy on account of their prices but the loud babel of voices is so headache-inducing, the chatter is just so - argh! Having said that The Winter Gardens was a perfect place for myself and my group (one elderly Nana and two teen boys) to dine, prices are brilliant. An extremely busy place but we easily found seating on both our visits (we were in Harrogate for three nights and we dined here for two of them), the building is very fine indeed, obviously noisy but staff do a great job of keeping on top of things. The team are efficient and one or two stood out in their friendliness (particularly the young lady who served us at the bar on our second visit). Between us (over two visits) we had two ‘smokey burgers’, ‘American burger’, ‘four tikka masala’s’ and a ‘Katsu curry’. Food is nothing to write home about but still tasty and fills you up. Drinks were generous and I happily introduced my mum to a large white wine spritzer (Chardonnay) which she is now converted to. I’m happy with our visits here and would recommend.”

“Great large Wetherspoon's pub, lots of room inside and outside seating area at the back, next to the car park. Didn't have any food so can't comment on that. Used it as a meeting place when going to Harrogate for the weekend and people were staying at the Travelodge next door.”

“Great place to hang out for a few hours after sightseeing. Good cocktail selection. The food is decent and reasonably priced. Plenty of choice. You can order at the table. The staff are very friendly and work hard.”

“Another example of Wetherspoons converting an beautiful old building to a cheap and cheerful drinks and food emporium. The building itself is probably the best Spoons that I have visited. Even though the place was busy we still managed to get a seat. The drinks and food were cheap and of a good quality. Where else could you get two meals and drinks for under £20. If you are in Harrogate go to the Winter Gardens even if it is just for a look but when you're there you may be tempted into having a drink or something to eat. It'll be worth it”

“The pub is open for breakfast until 12 noon and offers free refills (all day every day) on tea and Lavazza coffee. For lunch and dinner, there are lighter bites, with deli deal options and vegetarian choices, gourmet burgers and freshly made pizzas. Wetherspoon has championed a wide range of drinks, including real ales, craft beers, gins and soft drinks. Table service is available via the Wetherspoon app, using our unlimited free Wi-Fi.
