Customer Review Summary
Weddings in the Grand Pavilion draw the most praise, with one couple and a guest describing a smooth day, food guests are still talking about, and young staff who coped with a huge wedding. Beyond that, diners praise the roast platter for two, fabulous cocktails, and a three course meal described as reasonable, along with friendly staff, big parties served well, and a safe play area for children. Food quality splits on specifics. One reviewer found the steak pie tiny, dry and short on gravy, while another called the pie good. The fish and chips was called poor, with greasy fish and batter that tasted of old oil. Several describe prices as slightly higher, though some feel the portions justify it. Other complaints include a corner table that felt claustrophobic, mixed up sides, a room that felt cold and uninviting, and slow service. One reviewer describes the bar manager repeatedly shouting at younger bar staff, which spoiled an otherwise nice meal.

“Was a guest at a wedding on the hotest day of the year, this place is beautiful, simple elegance, staff are great, young so we were thinking would they cope with a huge wedding... but they did, and were very attentive and good fun.”

“The food was nice, service was a little slow but the waiter was really nice and friendly. The female manager of the bar however, completely ruined the atmosphere by shouting at the bar staff. Not once but constantly and seemed to pick on one of the younger boys ( was quite distressing to watch) she was dressed all in black with hair in a pony tail, very rude, never smiled at any of the staff just barking orders at them- this really needs addressing. Shame as she spoilt the visit!!”

“Great place to go with family or just as a couple. Lots of outside setting areas a conservatory and inside seating area in the restaurant. Good safe play area for children. Let's not forget the views. We did not order food but the food looked really good that came out and smelt delicious. The food prices are slightly on the higher price but the portions looked good.”

“The food was out of this world!! Slightly more expensive than your usual pub grub but well worth it! The quality of the food makes you still feel like you're getting a bargain even at the slightly higher price. I would strongly recommend and will be going back to sample more of there fare.”
