About Long Can Hall
Long Can Hall is a gastropub in Halifax at 12 Ovenden Wood Rd, housed in an old building. Its private function rooms, including a Snug, host weddings, murder mystery dinners and funeral receptions, and the staff decorate the rooms for each event. A wedding lunch has been held in the room at the top, and a murder mystery dinner in the Snug. Group bookings have the menu ordered and paid for in advance, so the food is settled before the day. The kitchen cooks a Sunday roast with roast beef slow cooked for 12 hours, and Vocation, a local brewery, is on tap. Reservations are required, and dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return for the Sunday roast, with one describing beef slow cooked for 12 hours that "melted in your mouth" and another calling the Sunday dinner gorgeous and good value, enough that they came back the following week from a 40 minute drive away. Close behind, the Tuscan chicken gets a direct recommendation, and a local Vocation beer on tap is mentioned at a family birthday. Many describe the hall as a place for occasions: a wedding lunch in the top room set up in a horseshoe and decorated by staff, a murder mystery dinner in the Snug with smooth communication from the booking onward, and a funeral reception where every taste and the children's drinks were catered for. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and attentive, and the owner welcoming. Reviewers also praise the lovely old building and its scenic setting, and one notes that more light inside makes it more inviting. No complaints appear. One birthday party was brought a chocolate brownie with ice cream and a candle after staff learned of the occasion.

“Had a wonderful time at a double birthday celebration with my Dad and the family here. The waitresses were very attentive, a great local brewery (Vocation) was on tap, and the food was excellent across all the party. They even went the extra mile when they found it was our birthdays and brought us a chocolate brownie with ice cream... and a candle! Highly recommend, thanks all!”

“I was so busy enjoying the experience I forgot to take pictures of our food! Found this gem of a place looking for a local pub to host a celebration wedding lunch. Everything went like clockwork, we were able to order from the menu - ordered 1 WK in advance, paid in advance, so I didn't have to worry on the day. I organised it for my son and daughter in law, as our gift to them. Everyone enjoyed it. We had the room at the top, table set up in a horseshoe shape, and decorated for our arrival. You have the opportunity to decorate as fancy as you wish. My instructions was just lunch mum, lolol. The staff however did a great job decorating the room creating a wedding vibe. It's in a lovely setting and is a lovely old building. I would recommend for occasions and for just wining and dining ✨”

“We booked the Snug to host a murder mystery dinner last night. From the booking to organising menus to arranging dressing the room - the communication from Lucas and Freya was faultless. The staff on the evening were amazing, sticking to timetables for service and delivering delicious, hot food. I would definitely recommend Long Can Hall. Thank you for such a great night!”

“Came here last Sunday for the first time. Enjoyed it so much that we came back this Sunday too.. And we live a 40 minute drive away. The Sunday dinner is absolutely gorgeous and really good value for money. It's very well presented and the staff are all very friendly and attentive. We'll definitely be visiting regularly!”
