About Colliers Arms
Colliers Arms is a stone-built pub in Elland, at 66 Park Rd, right beside the canal. It is a Samuel Smith's pub, and the inside is split into several small rooms. Games are on hand for anyone who wants to play. Posted notices set the house rules: no mobile devices, no swearing, no drunkenness, and no dogs or kids. Those rules suit visitors who come for a drink and conversation without phones or noise. Food is not served here, so the focus stays on the drinks and the games. The canal path runs past the building, and walkers pass along the water outside.

Customer Review Summary
The house rules split opinion. Some like the ban on kids, dogs, phones and swearing, calling it a safe haven from boorish behaviour, while one reviewer finds the phone rule over the top and says the place is half dead whenever they visit. Two reviewers want real ale or nice draft ale, and one gave only three stars for its absence. Another regrets that no food is served. One reviewer notes the owners plan to reopen the kitchen, and the canal path walkers sitting outside close the picture.

“No phone rules are a bit over the top. I get they want people to have conversations but the place is half dead whenever I’ve been in. No dogs, no kids, no phones, no swearing. If that’s what they want then great but you won’t get many customers.”

“Great to have this great pub back open. Fab, friendly service and wonderful location on the canal. Good beers, reasonably priced!🍺”

“Really friendly couple running it. Apparently recently opened last year 2025 and are planning to reopen the kitchen soon. If you like old fashioned pubs, this is the place for you. I was on a canal trip on the Calderdale and Hebden Navigation (canal) heading for Brighouse and we mistimed our stop as we had planned to go Westward on the Rochdale Canal, out of Shire Cruisers at Hebden Bridge, so hadn't surveyed this route. We tipped up late on Monday night as the last regular had just left. The couple could not have been more friendly to a group of four mature gentlemen. There was a good selection of ales both cask and keg, and lager and cider too. All reasonably priced. There were notices, explaining no mobile devices, no swearing and no drukeness, which makes the pub quirky and a safe haven from boorish behaviour. We returned there on the way back and managed to moor up just outside the pub, and again met with a real friendly welcome. Thanks Alan Murphy, Gateshead”

“Lovely landlady and a great example of a Sam Smith's pub. Great place to stop off while walking along the canal near Elland.”

“This was an absolute find. No kids, no dogs, no technology allowed, no swearing and they've loads of games to play and to top it off the beer is very reasonably priced.”
