About The Mill at Elstead, Godalming
The Mill at Elstead is a pub on Farnham Rd in Godalming, set in a converted former water mill beside a river and mill pond. A deck and an Orangery overlook the water, and the seating upstairs has a view of the creek. Ducks and swans spend time by the water, and organic duck feed is sold at the bar for guests who want to feed them. The menu includes a burger and sharers, and alcohol-free beer is on tap. The garden has its own bar and hosts events such as an opera in the garden. A private dining room is available for groups, and dogs are welcome. Bookings go through an online form that asks for allergy information.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the riverside setting, especially outdoor tables on the deck where diners watch and feed the ducks, with organic duck feed sold at the bar. Close behind is the service, with several praising the waitress and the welcome at the door as friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The food is called great and tasty, with the burger named more than once, along with a small but well curated menu and a few sharers. Others mention the history of the former water mill, a seat upstairs overlooking the creek, alcohol free beer on tap, and an opera evening in the garden with ice creams and donuts at half time. Families and dog walkers appear too, with a kids menu and a walk along the river afterward. The one criticism is that allergy information entered on the online booking form does not seem to reach the staff. Several describe the ducks running over their feet and nibbling their toes.

“Had a lovely early evening meal under cover on the deck overlooking the Mill pond. The food was tasty and promptly served. Bobby our waiter was charming, friendly and helpful. We loved the relaxed atmosphere despite the restaurant becoming busy. Also enjoyed watching and feeding the ducks.”

“Fantastic service, and the food was great too. It was also marvellous to have alcohol free beer on tap. We had a very quirky young lady serving us, and she was very chatty and attentive. The only criticism was that the allergy information asked for on the online booking form, doesn't seem to get through to the staff.”

“Special mention to Imogen our waitress. She was very friendly, welcoming and helpful and gave us fantastic service. The restaurant itself was so pretty, a real British gem and the food was great! Will definitely be back.”
- Morrigan Mayfair
“The food is exceptional and of outstanding quality. We sat outside beside the river and were greeted by the ducks. I absolutely love ducks, and have kept them as pets several times, so I was in heaven! They sell their own organic duck feed at the bar, which we purchased and we had a great time feeding the ducks. They were running all over our feet and nibbling our toes. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.”
