“If I could leave six stars, I would. We arrived late and were hungry and tired after a long cycle. Kevin made sure he kept the oven hot until we had washed and were ready to order. I don't usually choose pizzas but Kevin's were the best i've ever tasted. Thin crust and lots of topping and in my case, truffle flavour. Meanwhile the woman behind the bar was also warm and friendly. The rooms were comfortable and immaculate with a comprehensive caddy of teas and fresh coffees. I cannot recommend more highly.”

“Not quite a 5 but nevertheless pretty good”

“Lovely pub, always welcoming, great cocktails, lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend for small and large groups, or even just a quiet intimate corner in the garden.”

“My time at The rose and Crown was amazing. Jordan made sure that we were happy and «fully stocked» and we enjoyed the lovely weather in their beer garden. Fully recommend when visiting from London”

“I had a spicy margarita which was, to be fair, very nice, even if the initial service was a little... Odd. But that's fine, a bit of character in a bar is always good! However, they lose three stars as a result of the less than stellar service we experienced after we ordered food - which never arrived. We ordered 4 starters but after 30 mins there was no sign of our food. No one else seemed to be eating so it wasn't like they were rushed off their feet, but no big deal. My wife asked after our order and we were told that, "it's definitely on its way". 50 minutes after ordering there was still no food. We caught the eye of a guy working there who was a little older (I guess maybe the manager/stand-in chef) and my wife politely calls out, "excuse me..." to which he cuts her off and says, "what? I can't hang around I've got something burning in the kitchen"... "Oh. We ordered food 50 minutes ago, we just wondered if it's on its way?" "I've got no tickets in the kitchen. I'm not cooking anything." So what was burning in the kitchen? 🧐 Long story short, we managed to get a refund, even though it took multiple attempts to get the correct reimbursement. A younger guy at the bar said it was because "they were stretched" and "the printer isn't working", the same guy who said "the food is definitely on its way". I get bar work is hard and things sometimes go to pot if people don't turn up, and I do have sympathy for this, but what really agitated me was the staff's attitude and their handling of the whole thing. No one said there was an issue with the kitchen, no one kept us up to date, they lied to us when we chased, and when we asked for info on what had happened they were very short and frankly a bit arsey. The older guy seemed to be spinning a yarn about "no tickets" as others who came in after us were served food (pizza), and the younger guy at the bar didn't simply explain the issue, he spoke with a tone as if it was our fault for daring to order food whilst they were "stretched" and "short staffed". We should be mind readers, you see. Clearly the printer not working was an existential issue to their operation (or, more honestly, probably the lack of an actual chef to cook anything beyond a pizza). First and last time I'm ever going there. Wasted an hour. Terrible service, with a lack of professionalism. One positive is that, in hindsight, it seems as if we might have dodged a bullet food wise.”
