About OUTLIER
OUTLIER is a brunch restaurant at 38 London Rd in Glasgow that brings a cafe, a bakery and a restaurant together in one place. The kitchen is open, so diners can watch their food being prepared, and cakes, cookies and breads baked in house are shown on the counter for anyone who wants something to go with a drink. Brunch includes French toast, and the lunch side adds a kale and ricotta toastie. The coffee list covers lattes, including a cardamom latte, along with hot chocolate. Tables are walk-in, and a wait for a seat is common at peak times.

Customer Review Summary
Coffee draws the most praise, with reviewers singling out a strong, creamy latte, a cardamom latte and the hot chocolate. Close behind are the French toast and the scrambled eggs on sourdough with streaky bacon, which one diner calls superb and full of flavour, along with pastries and breads baked in house. Others name the kale and ricotta toastie, the soup, a seasonal yogurt bowl and a lamb sandwich. One coeliac diner describes a gluten-free burger on Burger Night that held together perfectly. The recurring complaints are pace and crowding. Several describe slow service, one waited a long time for the bill, and another walked out a couple of times because the place was completely packed. One reviewer felt the fried chicken sandwich was small on a huge plate for the money. Another found nuts in the granola on the French toast despite an intolerance, though the staff apologised and offered to remake it. Dog owners report a warm reception, and one was brought a bowl of water for their dog.

“Stumbled upon this place and decided to give it a try, given how busy it was it seemed like the place to go. We were seated very quickly however the server was not very attentive and it took quite some time receiving the bill. Despite the service not being great, the food was excellent! The soup was unbelievably delicious and the kale and ricotta toastie was so flavourful!”

“Really liked this spot and would absolutely visit again. The season yogurt bowl was delicious, we also tried the lamb sandwich for brunch. The menu is so interesting and fresh, not like a typical brunch spot. We also loved the coffee, pastries and decor. It’s a modern brunch spot but with lots of personality!”

“Visited on a very busy Saturday, waiting for about 10 minutes in a holding area at the back of the venue used for storage and suchlike. Unintentional industrial chic. Sat in the window, which was quite comfortable. Music wasn't loud, which was lovely, but a buzzing atmosphere of noisy chatter. Not a meditative place, but definitely friendly and happy. The staff too fit that description. Food was excellent. Not too slow in arriving, despite the crowd. The fried chicken sandwich tasted amazing, but the relatively small serving came on a huge plate on its own. Was left feeling I'd overpaid for that one. Just a little. The French toast was very good. Unfortunately, it came with a granola sprinkle that contained nuts. Just as well I was sharing. The staff apologised and offered to have it remade, but I had the half without nuts. I have an intolerance and not a full-on allergy. All in all, a fun place with tasty food that's maybe just edging into being overpriced.”

“Food and especially coffee was soooo good. These people know what they are doing. I got their French toast, so yummy. My husband got the scrambled egg toast with toppings. And cardamom latte is bomb”

“Loved it! Outlier is a real gem. The food is excellent, creative, well-executed and clearly made with care. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, which suits the space perfectly. Service is on the slower side, but given it's a small kitchen turning out quality dishes, that's easy to forgive. Well worth a visit.”
