About Bucks Bar Trongate
Bucks Bar Trongate is a chicken wings restaurant in Merchant City, Glasgow, at 96 Trongate, a 10-minute walk from the Barrowlands. Fried chicken anchors the menu, with chicken burgers such as the Gravy Train and the Country Boy, and Louisiana chicken also listed. Fries come skinny or as sweet potato fries. Milkshakes are made with Nutella or bourbon cream, and they are boozy, so they work as a drink and a dessert next to the burgers. Tables are spread across multiple floors, and the window has a bench and bar stools for walk-ins. A music soundtrack runs through the room. Dogs are welcome. Bucks Bar also has sister branches in Edinburgh and St Andrews.

Customer Review Summary
Fried chicken is what reviewers return to, with several calling it up there with the best they have had and one singling out the Louisiana chicken as perfectly cooked and seasoned. Chicken burgers come close behind, notably the Gravy Train with buttermilk chicken, hash browns, cheese and gravy, and the Country Boy. Buffalo wings and skinny or sweet potato fries get mentioned alongside them. Portions are repeatedly called huge. Staff are described as friendly, with quick service, and the music and bouncing atmosphere draw praise. One reviewer says the decor made them feel they weren't in Glasgow. Milkshakes get a nod too, a Nutella one called delish and a bourbon cream one very boozy. The main reservation comes from one reviewer who found the food tasty but nothing fantastic, service slow at times, and the cocktails weak even with a Wednesday discount. One reviewer advises prebooking after finding the venue busy on a Sunday evening. A takeaway order stayed hot, and one couple could not finish the fries.

“Best meal we had in the city. Great service and really tasty food. Louisiana chicken was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Skinny fries were spot on too. Recommend Bucks over sister location Thundercat!”

“Very big portions at a reasonable price (I paid around £20 for a large chicken burger with sweet potato fries). The food was tasty but nothing fantastic. Service was slow at times. Whilst the cocktails were 30% off (as we visited on a Wednesday) they weren’t the best and tasted quite weak.”

“I can’t recommend this place highly enough! The food is fantastic, the service is great, and a bouncing atmosphere! Visited this branch a few times, but also done the two in Edinburgh and the one in St Andrews. All the locations provide a consistently good level of service!”

“Stumbled across Buck’s Bar completely by accident but so glad we went in! The fried chicken was up there with the best I’ve had. The atmosphere was super chill and the staff were so friendly! Ella and Ava who served us on the day were particularly lovely! Would 100% recommend if you’re staying in or around Merchant City area of Glasgow!”

“Excellent experience, lovely staff and quick service. We arrived 15mins early to booking and they accommodated us with no problems. Tasty food, with good choices on the menu. Decore is done really well, we didn't feel like we were sat Glasgow! Highly recommend!”
