Quick info
About Happy House
Happy House is a Chinese takeaway on Drumilaw Road in Glasgow, running on collection and delivery for eating off site. A munchie box sits on the menu, ordered alongside salt and chilli chips and salt and chilli chicken. Orders go through over the phone, and there is no booking to make, so the counter works on a walk-in and call-ahead basis. The kitchen opens evenings only and stays shut on Wednesdays and Thursdays. High chairs are kept on hand for families with young children. The takeaway has since passed to new owners.

Customer Review Summary
Salt and chilli dishes come up most, and reviewers split on them. One regular orders salt and chilli chicken with boiled rice and curry sauce every time and calls it hot and crispy, while others describe the chips as dry with no salt or chilli and the crispy shredded chicken as bone dry with no sauce. Praise centres on quick delivery, large portions and good value, with the mixed starter, chicken satay skewers and a tender beef curry singled out. A run of complaints says quality has slipped, with some wondering if new owners took over. They cite watery sauces, sweet gravy, mushy chicken balls, chips that seemed reheated and a cold munchies box. One reviewer felt rushed out at closing time and found the place less clean than before. Another reports hot and sour soup that smelt off and says staff met their attempt to return it with hostility.

“Worst experience EVER! Has been taken over by new owners and the food is horrendous! Mushy wet chicken balls salt and chilli chips with little seasoning no veg chillis onions etc chicken wings that tasted like they had been defrosted in the microwave hot and sour soup which smelt off and when tried to return the food I was met with hostility and abuse! Don't waste your money”

“I used to absolutely love this place, but in the past 6 months or so it has gone way down hill. Staff aren't great on the phones. Food is not the same any more, sauces are wattery, spicy stuff not as spicy as it used to be, plain stuff is spicy, gravy is sweet, etc. Last time I ordered and went to collect I felt like they were trying to get me out the door at 8:30pm so they could close. Doesn't seem as clean as it used to either.”

“I only go to these guys for my Chinese. Always the fastest delivery, massive portion sizes, always hot and crispy, the best Chinese I’ve ever had. Always go for the usual, salt and chilli chicken, boiled rice and curry sauce which always bangs. No veg of course, would never go any where else.”
