About Kothel 300

Kothel 300 is a cafe at 300 Crow Rd in Glasgow, serving the Broomhill area since 2015. The menu covers coffee, cake, lunch and brunch, and the lattes and cappuccinos come with a range of alternative milk options. Among the food, the Habibi sandwich sits alongside a vegetarian platter for two, and a vegan chocolate cake is among the cakes. Inside, the room is fitted with dark wood panelling. Dogs are welcome, and the team greets them with a small bundle of ham and a "pub cup" of their own.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers return most for the sandwiches, especially the Habibi, which several name alongside the 300 and the Papichulo, and they describe the baguette as soft and the sandwiches as delicious. Coffee, usually a latte or cappuccino, comes close behind and is called really good and smooth, though a couple of reviewers found it average or not that great. Cake is also praised, including carrot cake, a huge raspberry cake and a vegan chocolate cake that one diner liked despite disliking vegan cakes in general. Dog owners repeatedly mention the welcome, with one dog given a small bundle of ham and another a pup cup. Staff are described as friendly and lovely. The complaints are about value and service: one reviewer paid a high price for a small croissant they judged worse than a supermarket one, another said the takeaway pastries were the wrong item and slow to arrive while staff chatted, and a table that waited had to call a waiter themselves. One takeaway bag ripped on the way home and a slice of raspberry cake was lost.

“Small croissant, big prices! A single small croissant is £4.5. Crazy prices. It was worse in quality than a standard Lidl croissant This place looks cool but the actually quality and prices are not good.”

“Visited at the weekend, it's dog friendly so that's a plus and the staff were nice. It was quiet when we arrived, the service was prompt and the atmosphere was comfortable. I got the Habibi and the baguette was lovely and soft. The Jalapeños were rather mild, I was expecting a little more of a kick but it was still tasty. The carrot cake was delicious. They brought a small bundle of ham for our dog which was very kind. My lemon and ginger tea was red and definitely wasn't lemon and ginger, but what they did bring was nice.”

“A lovely wee café that serves really good coffee and delicious sandwiches! It's one of our favourite brunch spots when we're in that area. The staff is friendly and the vibe is very chill. A nice bonus is that it's pet friendly so you're bound to bump into some lovely wee pups. Our usual order of sandwiches is "the habibi", "300" and/or "Papichulo". All of them are delicious. Coffees we go for is usually a latte or a cappuccino! My husband and I love this place as it never disappoints. Thank you.”

“I visited Kothel 300 earlier this week and ordered a cortado and two pastries for takeaway. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing overall. The cortado wasn’t to my taste, and the cinnamon bun - which I usually enjoy elsewhere - made me feel unwell. The second pastry turned out to be something else entirely: overly sweet and inedible. I realized after I left and opened the takeaway box that they had given me the wrong item, which was frustrating. While I appreciated the variety of alternative milk options, the rest of the experience didn’t match up. The coffee was ready in about 3 minutes, but the pastries took around 10 minutes, which is a long wait for takeaway, especially since no one mentionedhow much it's take. Meanwhile, the staff seemed more focused on chatting than preparing orders, which felt unprofessional. To top it off, I found the place overpriced for the quality of both the food and service. Sadly, I don’t think I’ll be giving it another chance.”
