About Naked Soup
Naked Soup is a family-run cafe in Glasgow on Kersland St, open daily and serving soups, sandwiches and all-day breakfasts. The format pairs soup with bread: a large soup comes with focaccia, and a small soup goes with a bagel sandwich. The bagel list is large, running from cold cuts and chicken aioli to a cauliflower shawarma bagel. The soups lean vegetarian, with sweet potato & coconut among them, and the coffee list includes iced latte and mocha. The shop is small with limited seating, and a queue out the door is common at lunchtime and on busy days. Staff allocate tables to parties while they wait in line, and tables turn over quickly. There is no printed menu, so the staff show you the food.

“The tomato soup was delicious however my bagel was disappointing. I had the cauliflower shawarma which only tasted like pickles and one half contained no cauliflower! The bagel was warm as if it had been toasted but was stone cold in the middle. Staff were nice and service was quick.”

“Came here cause it was so hyped online and I thought it was gonna be good. But I think this place is the word “mid” personified. There was barely space to sit, fine, cute hole in the wall or whatever. But why are we queuing down the road for bread and decent soup? It wasn’t bad but it was far from great. Also the layout meant every person in the vicinity was staring down our necks as we ate. All in all a little seasoning would go very far.”

Customer Review Summary
Soup with a bagel sandwich is the draw, with diners praising the tomato soup, including a dried tomato version, and the sweet potato and coconut soup as tasty and full of flavour. Bagels come close behind, notably the chicken aioli and the cold cuts, and a few add that the coffee was excellent and the portions filling. Most describe the staff as friendly and quick even while swept off their feet, and several call the small room busy and lively with a great atmosphere. The queue is the recurring trade-off, with reviewers reporting lines at lunchtime and a wait for a table, though turnover is fast. Two reviewers found the hype overdone, calling it mid and describing other diners staring down their necks. One felt ignored at the door, was surprised there was no menu, and met curt service from some staff while praising a colleague who served a mocha with a smile. Another reports a cauliflower shawarma bagel that tasted only of pickles, with one half missing cauliflower and a middle that was stone cold despite a warm, toasted outside.
