“A part of the wetherspoond chain of pubs, so if you have been in one, you know what to expect. It is a lovely old building with a renovated, clean and modern interior. There is an extensive food menu of mostly decent, affordable dishes. They have a large choice of beers, ales, ciders and spirits. The wine list is less impressive. It is wheelchair accessible. Staff were pleasant and knowledgeable of their wares.”

“The Esquire House (Wetherspoon) in Anniesland, across from the old Ascot cinema. Standard Wetherspoon setup, big open space, plenty of seating, with optimistic outdoor seating. Okay, I’m not a big Wetherspoon fan myself, but it is what it is, I suppose. Waiter Jakab was a top bloke, the best thing about the place, very professional, switched on and helpful. Food is what you’d kind of expect. Had an American breakfast with eggs, sausages, hash browns, and pancakes with bacon. The pancakes seemed like they’d been reheated or something, really weird. The coffee from the machine was honestly one of the worst cups of coffee I’ve had. But some folk go back for refills again and again. The guy at the next table was eating really loudly, snotting and sniffing. Not sure if he was hungover or some kind of junkie. He kept moving around outside for a vape and then back for a coffee refill, talking loudly on his phone. It is a very cheap sit-down meal I will give the place that. ---”
