About Malones Irish Bar

Malones Irish Bar is an Irish pub at 57-59 Sauchiehall Lane in Glasgow, open daily and run by Irish publicans. Live music plays seven nights a week, with Irish trad sessions on Monday and Friday. Live sport is a major draw, with football, rugby, GAA, F1 and boxing on 4K screens. Upstairs, a big projector screen adds to the TVs for match days. The Guinness Rooftop Garden has its own screens, so the sport carries on outside the main bar. A first-floor bar upstairs stocks a whiskey selection. At the bar, Guinness is poured alongside Tennent's tank pint, and the Spice Bag is the dish to know from the kitchen. Davie's Kitchen closes in the early evening, and during some matches guests who are not dining are seated upstairs or on the roof terrace.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often point to the Spice Bag, which a couple describe as plenty for two and pretty big for one person, and one calls it a must have. Close behind are a really good Guinness and the Tennent's Tank Pint, with the match-day atmosphere for Liverpool v Spurs, Scotland v France rugby and the World Cup finale. Live music, a big projector screen upstairs, a huge first-floor bar with a whiskey selection and the roof terrace also draw praise, along with tasty cocktails and proper Tayto crisps. Staff are described as friendly and welcoming, and one group says two staff members went out to buy milk for coffees at a baby shower after the kitchen had closed. The recurring catch is food: the kitchen closed at 7:30pm for one party, and during a Celtic game one reviewer says anyone not eating had to sit upstairs or on the roof terrace, away from the live music. Even so, that kitchen-closed party was allowed to order in food from elsewhere.

“We had a little baby shower in the upstairs section today, and Derek and Jordo couldn’t have been more accommodating and helpful! Nothing was too much to ask for, they even went out to buy milk to make us coffees even though the kitchen was closed. Already liked the venue and staff, but they made today really special for our mum friend to be. Thanks so much!”

“Great place for food & drinks. We were in for the Scotland v France rugby match and the atmosphere was fantastic. Plenty of tv's and a big projector screen upstairs as well. The Spice Bag is definitely a must have!! We shared it between 2 and it was plenty. Staff are all lovely as well.”
  • Dave Boyer
“This is a great place to hang out, watch sports, check out live music, enjoy some really tasty cocktails and grab some food from Davie’s Kitchen. The staff is friendly, professional and efficient. They will take good care of you. If you have never had Tank (brewery tank) beer, get yourself a Tennent’s Tank Pint and enjoy yourself. It’s well worth it.”

Good to know

“Malones Glasgow is an authentic Irish pub run by Irish publicans. We’re well known for our electric atmosphere, one of the best pints of Guinness or Tank Tennent's in the city and of course our iconic spice bag. We feature live music 7 nights a week featuring local musicians, and on Monday & Friday nights we host our Irish trad sessions. Live sport is massive for us – we show everything on our 4K HD screens including football, rugby, GAA, F1, boxing, horseracing, NFL, the Super Bowl and more. If there’s something you want to watch then just give us a shout. Our Guinness Rooftop Garden is the perfect spot for after-work drinks or daytime catch ups with friends. It even has screens so you can watch the sport!”
