Quick info
About The Old Hairdresser's
The Old Hairdresser's is a live music bar on Renfield Ln in Glasgow, set in a back alley in the city centre. The ground floor holds the bar and a mezzanine, and entry is walk-in. Draft beers are on tap, with more beers kept in the fridge. The furniture is mismatched and the walls are barely decorated, which gives the place a Bohemian look, and the toilets are covered in graffiti. Events and live music take place in the gig space at the top of the building, up multiple stairs. The high ceiling can make the room chilly in winter.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the live music and gig space upstairs, described as a closer, more authentic room with good capacity and a good sound system, where one reviewer caught a staging of Edward II. The beer comes close behind, with a decent draft selection and a fridge of bottles that one reviewer says is worth a look, and prices several call decent. Beyond that, diners describe a no-frills, bohemian bar with mismatched furniture, graffitied toilets, a chill crowd and a good vibe, and a few single out friendly staff. The complaints are practical. The gig space sits up a maze of stairs above the ground floor bar and the mezzanine, the high ceiling can make the place chilly in winter, and one reviewer feels the toilets and some facilities could do with a slight makeover. Several note it ranges from fairly quiet to very busy depending on what is on, and a few suggest checking it out. One visitor returned for a second night during a stay in Glasgow.

“For my money, the best pub in Glasgow. Quiet, dark, not full of old geezerz puts on great music, friendly staff and good drink. Don't tell anyone!”

“A bar with a mezzanine and if you are there for an event a floor even further up a maze of stairs. A lovely alternative atmosphere in the bars and prices aren't too shabby.”

“I never tried the food because we were there for a gig. The gig space is at the top of the building up multiple stairs and the bar is ground floor so you get your steps in if you are drinking. The gig space was good though with a closer more authentic feel whilst still having good capacity. Overall I would recommend people check this place out.”

“Great wee bar and venue in the city centre. - good vibes and nice crowd that go in here. Can be fairly quiet to very busy depending whats on. Toilets and some facilities could do with a slight makeover just to bring it up to speed without changing its character.”
