About Malo - Wine & Negroni Bar
Malo - Wine & Negroni Bar is a bar in Glasgow at 12 Bothwell St, close to Central station. The bar sits in a basement down a low-roofed staircase, lit by dimmed lights and candles. The wine list is sectioned by red, white, sparkling, orange, rosé and more, and negronis feature among the cocktails, with beer and spirits also poured. Food is snacks only and no meals are served, so olives, cheese platters and charcuterie platters accompany the drinks. Malo is open daily.

“Wines by the glass are not fresh. Our party tried three different wines and all were the same. I'd say 90%+ of the clientele are drinking cocktails which might explain why the wine is left standing for too long after opening. Maybe offer less wines by the glass if you don't have the demand?”

“A noisy but excellent wine bar hidden away just metres from Central station. A superb selection of wines and interesting negronis. With good and unpretentious service. The low roof means it can be very noisy and hot but it's still worth it”

“Chose this place for a meet up as none of us live in Glasgow any more and it was convenient for public transport. Started off downstairs, then moved to the street when the sun went down. We had a couple of cheese plates and a couple of charcuterie plates between five of us - all of which were excellent. Service was great and kudos to the lady from Newcastle who was endlessly patient as our drinks order got more and more convoluted.”

“I've been to Malo a few times and always enjoyed it! Tonight I had an absolutely delicious house drink - Naked Intent - recommended and made by our bartender Aliya. Absolutely delicious! (great playlist too)”

“Delightful, chill bar with incredibly friendly service. Great for a date night or just to have a chill evening with friends, this bar down the stairs is a treat. The wine menu is extensive, sectioned by red, white, sparkling, orange, rosé and more from all around the world! The decor is simple neat and tidy, the lights are dimmed and candles scatter the joint. The cheese platter was incredibly pleasant and I can only imagine how well it pairs with the meat platter. It’s loud enough to chat and not be overheard, but not so loud that it’s disruptive! Staff were very attentive and smiley! Thanks so much for a lovely experience, cheers :)”
