Customer Review Summary
Friendly, helpful staff come up in review after review at The Star, and the meals themselves draw steady praise for generous portions. One diner enjoyed the Full Monty, with a steak cooked as requested, while breakfast is called hot, lovely and good value by two reviewers. Reviewers also mention a gluten free menu, including a gluten free apple crumble, plenty of plant based options, and a large garden with benches and little huts. The refurbished decor gets a nod, and one reviewer says the pub welcomed dogs with pup cups. Complaints are small but specific. One reviewer found the garlic mushrooms short on garlic flavour, a few chips underdone, the onion rings rubbery, and the cheesecake unusually firm with a thin base. Another says the cutlery is not always clean, and one suggests booking before arriving because the pub is busy. A birthday party praised the team for sorting out the food and keeping the evening fun.

“I eat in here frequently and very rarely have any issues. The food is not overly prickly in today's market and you tend to get what you paid for. The decor has been updated and this pub is very nice to visit and eat in, the garden is lovely to sit in when the weather is nice. I would implore anyone to book before arriving, this is a busy pub. The cutlery is not always clean so give this an extra check when collecting this.”

It’s the kind of place where you feel comfortable the moment you walk through the door. We always look forward to coming back!”
