About Red Kite Café
Red Kite Café is a dog-friendly brunch restaurant at 7-8 Cadzow Pl in Edinburgh, open daily, so people can bring their dogs along for a meal. The Turkish eggs put poached eggs over garlicky yogurt with chili butter and crusty bread. The breakfast menu also lists scrambled eggs with bacon and sourdough toast. Herbal teapots are sized for two people, and a second cup comes at no extra charge. Vegan and vegetarian options sit on the menu, and the gluten free desserts are labeled. Large shared tables give groups room to sit together. Weekend mornings can get crowded, and there can be a wait. The kitchen also serves coffee, lunch, and home-made cakes and pastries.

Customer Review Summary
Turkish eggs draw the most praise, described as poached eggs over garlicky yogurt with warm chili butter and crusty bread, and one reviewer calls them one of the best breakfast dishes they have had. Coffee comes close behind, called great by several and out of this world by one. Other named dishes include the Scottish Rarebit with a minted apple slaw, a haggis breakfast where garlic butter was a revelation, and scrambled eggs with bacon and sourdough toast. Vegan options and labeled gluten free desserts also get mentions. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly, and the atmosphere as relaxed and filled with sunlight. On the downside, weekend mornings get crowded, the large shared tables offer less privacy, and one reviewer found the breakfast a bit pricey for the amount on the plate. Another notes the kitchen opens at 9. One diner had a plate replaced after onions turned up in the avo toast, and staff came back to check on them.

“With arguably some of the best coffee in town, this cafe has an impressive menu of brunch items AND a well labeled array of gluten free desserts. We found our way before hiking up Arthur’s seat and it was the perfect way to start the day. Highly recommend!”

“Wowzer! Totally delicious breakfast of wonderfully perfect scrambled eggs with bacon and sourdough toast, plus decaf latte. My other half had an amazing veggie breakfast with an ingenious garnish of roasted veg. Excellent service and atmosphere. We will be back. Thank you Red Kite team! 😀👍”

“We entered the place randomly (honestly just to take some pictures and then go) while walking, but the staff were so friendly and welcomed us even tho there was a wait. We decided to give it a try, and it was the best decision ever. The food was soo yummy (Turkish eggs) and the coffee surprised me as well. Loved the atmosphere. Definitely will be back.”
